Home description
Stunning old village house in a quiet position near the church in Deia. We have recently renovated it and kept the original features, decorating it with contemporary art and ceramics as well as distinctive furnishings and antiques in Moorish style. The roof terrace and artists studio overlook the village and have breathtaking views of the Teix mountains. From the house you can wander through the old village streets to all of Deia's famous restaurants and boutiques or take in the church where Robert Graves is buried at the top of the village with views to the sea. The beach is a 20 minute walk through olive and orange groves or a 5 minute drive.

The Mallorca/Majorca region
Deia is situated on the north west coast of Mallorca, nestled in the Teix mountains. The old town was built facing the mountains hidden from pirates view from the sea. It was settled by moors who built extensive terraces to grow olives, almonds and citrus fruit and it became an artists haven in the 19th and 20th century. Robert Graves settled here and his family home is now a museum. La Residencia 5 star hotel is situated in the middle of the village and the village has a great selection of restaurants, tapas bars as well as shops and banks. The cala (beach) is a 20 minute walk or 5 minute drive from the village where there are 2 restaurants. The village has a municipal tennis court or you can have lessons at La Residencia's courts.
Deia area
Valdemossa is a picturesque 15 minute drive. Chopin came to stay in the village. Travelling in the other direction again 15 minutes brings you to the town of Soller which has daily markets, an open tram service to the beach and antique train service to Palma. There is an excellent and inexpensive bus service to Palma, Soller and Valdemossa if you do not rent a car.
How to get there
Our house is situated on a quiet street in the centre of the old town near the church in Deia. Deia is on the north west coast of Mallorca 40 minutes drive from the airport and centre of Palma.
