Home description

Available to rent from June 2009, this stunning, very exclusive property has something for everyone. Designed to be enjoyed at any time of the year. Located on the perimetre of a very pretty village, next to the Loire, the house is set in it's own gated grounds. There's lots of space for children to run around, play and explore in safety.

The electric gates ensure that you will not be disturbed. The long driveway and parking areas provide secure parking for several vehicles. Burgundy is a beautiful region renowned for its stunning scenery, river, lakes, canals, exceptional cuisine and fine wines.

The property is located just 10 minutes from the historic town of Decize which has boutiques, food shops, supermarkets, lots of excellent restaurants to try out. The rivers Loire, Arun and the Canal de Nivernais surround the town for those who like fishing or messing about in boats. Cycle routes are well marked, very scenic and not too taxing. Also located on the edge of the Morvan National Park with lots of outdoor activities to be enjoyed.

The Burgundy / Nievre region

For those who want to be active, get out and about, experience French culture, see the sights, explore historic towns and eat the most exquisite food in the world, washed down with some of the best wines in the world, then Burgundy is the region of France for you.

Charrin is only 30-40 minutes drive from the famous Grand Prix circuit at Magny Cours where there is always something going on and you can drop in any time. The go-karting there is the best we have seen anywhere. If you wish to venture out and explore, the nearest city of Nevers has lots to offer, just 30-40 minutes away. Dijion, Lyon, Chamonix, Annecy and Mont Blanc are all about 2 hours drive. One of the best things of all is that you are right on the edge of the Morvan National Park, known as the ‘lungs of France’ where the scenery of lakes and mountains is simply stunning and again there is so much to see and do.

There are Chateaux and beautiful Manor Houses a-plenty as you drive around the region, many of them have large vineyards attached where you can sample the wares.

Decize area

The local town of Decize is one of the oldest in France and steeped in fascinating history. It is surrounded by water where the Rivers Loire and Arun and the Canal de Nivernais run, each with their own selection of interesting and fun activities. There are several local boat trips. You can hire motor boats and pedalos to explore and play, cycle for miles, away from the main roads, the local canoe base also has a wide range of escorted and unescorted activities.

Eating out is not expensive in Burgundy but it is always superb. We have yet to have a bad meal, whatever the style or type of restaurant. Don’t be put off by the exterior of places you see, you will be amazed by how beautiful they are inside. We have avoided drab looking places until they have been recommended to us, to be very pleasantly surprised by the interior décor, service and cuisine. Just along the road between L’Oseraie and Decize there are two such places.

By Road: Le Havre Ferry Port - 5 hrs (462km). Calais Ferry Port and Channel Tunnel - 6 hrs (574km)
By Rail: TGV at Nevers, SNCF at Decize
By Air: Dijon 2 hrs. Lyon 2.5 hrs. Paris 3 hrs.

There is a fully equipped kitchen with all mod cons and creature comforts; a large dining room with table to seat 10; large lounge with TV, DVD, Home Cinema Surround Sound, iPod Dock, comfortable leather furniture. Mezzanine with TV, PS2, assorted board games, books, leather sofa's etc. The three bedrooms are beautifully decorated and have plenty of storage for clothes, etc. The two sofas on the Mezzanine are very comfortable extra beds.

Outside is a long, covered veranda that can be used in all season, with sofa's and chairs overlooking the garden and out to the Loire. Off the lounge is a small balcony with table and chairs. The 10m x 5m private, heated swimming pool and pool terrace are in full sun all day. Around the large pool terrace there is a range of sun loungers, hammocks and chairs, inflatables and pool toys, solar shower, diving board and steps into the pool. Also on the pool terrace is the barbecue/pool house that has been set up with it's own dining table and chairs, large and small barbecue, sink, cutlery, crockery, glasses, etc., changing room with WC.

This will be our first year of renting so if there is something you need that is not listed, please ask and we will do our best to accommodate.

We will provide bedding and bed linen and towels for indoor use. Please bring your own sunbathing/pool towels. High-chair and cot must be requested at the time of booking so we can make sure it is all set up ready for you.

Due to the location and size of the country in general, it is advisable to have a car.

Conditions

Long terms lets will be considered and rates will be agreed individually.
We welcome families with well behaved children but in the interests of all of our guests we can't allow pets or smoking indoors.
A refundable breakages deposit of £400 will be payable with the booking, to be refunded within two weeks of your departure (subject to satisfactory property inspection).
25% of rental fee to be paid upon booking to secure the property.
Balance due 8 weeks before arrival date.

A 25% deposit is required to secure a booking. A security/damage deposit of £400 per booking is payable with the final balance.
