The South East England / Kent region

Kent enjoys a relaively mild climate compared to the rest of the U.K. The climate is good enough to produce world class wines and you can visit some of the local vineyards during your stay at Church House. For beer lovers, the wonderful ales from the Shepherd Neame brewery based in nearby Faversham (and available in many pubs in Walmer and Deal) should not be missed!
Kent has a wealth of history from the medieval period best exemplified in nearby Canterbury to the more modern with the heroic feats of the World War II pilots over the English Channel.
The Deal / Walmer Village area
There are many local attractions to suit all ages and interests. In fact there are far too many to list here! The English Heritage properties of Walmer and Deal Castles are both close by. For those who love mooching around interesting shops, Deal will prove a real delight. Deal is full of gorgeous independent shops selling lovely things that you'll want to take home. For foodies Deal is the real deal! It has marvellous restaurants such as 81 Beach Street, Dunkerlys and the Black Douglas. There are also fantastic fishmongers, an organic greengrocers and a gorgeous deli. A meal at the Allotment in Dover is also a treat not to be missed - excellent.
Dover Castle is a short journey from the house either by car, bus or train and is one of the finest castles in England. Nearby cliff top walks and the dramatic St Margarets Bay are absolute must dos.
Other easy trips include Winchelsea and Rye, Romney with its wonderful little railway across Romney Marsh, Camber Sands, historic Broadstairs and the North Downs Way footpath.

-I would like to say what a lovely house you have there - beautifully decorated, warm, spacious and comfortable. We all had a lovely time. Because of the bad weather we stayed indoors most of the time and it was a pleasure to do so, particularly with the fire blazing in the drawing room. Thank you for the hamper, the hand wash and toiletries - these things are so helpful.

Dear Janice
We just wanted to thank you so very much for such a lovely stay at Church House last week. Thank you also for the wonderful hamper of food and drink (and Easter Eggs!!) you left for us - very generous!
We all loved the house and enjoyed a few fires in the evenings - overall we were very lucky with the weather and had some lovely days out.

-Hi Janice,
Our holiday in your fabulous house was everything we could have hoped. We wanted for absolutely nothing and we found the house friendly and comfortable. Thank you so much for the very, very generous gift basket - the best we have ever experienced (and we have been on many self catering holidays over the years). This, and the lovely flowers, made us feel extremely welcome. How you managed to provide such excellent weather is a mystery to us all!
