The Costa Blanca / Valencia / Alicante Province region

The town of Guardamar del Segura is only 8 minutes drive away and has an award winning Blue Flag beach, with a promenade of cafes, shops, restaurants and bars. There is also a marina, a palm tree forest and a beautiful park, the Reina Sofia, often used for picnics. La Marina also has a blue flag beach and is 8 minutes drive with water sports facilities, shops, bars etc. The Aqua park in Ciudad Quesada is also 8 minutes drive. Torrevieja is a 15 minute drive, much busier town with ferries and boat trips to Isle of Tabarca, a night market and lots of other tourist attractions including a spring/summertime funfair and nearby is the Aquopolis Water Park which is great fun for all the family.
There is a Luxury Spa and Golf at the Hotel La Laguna, Euromarina, Rojales. Terra Mitica theme park is 50 minutes away, just outside Benidorm. Alicante is a beautiful old city, with excellent beach facilities, ferry links, lovely architecture, castle etc and the Costa Blanca Express provides a scenic train journey along the sea front up to Calpe or Altea. There are stunning waterfalls at Algar (Fuentesd’Algar) that you can swim in. Elche has a palm forest for a lovely shady walk and finally there are a huge choice of clean white beaches…..Really something for everyone.
On the outskirts of Rojales (5 minutes drive from Daya Vieja) is a bypass that gives access to the A7 taking you to Orihuella, Cartagena, Crevillente and many other of the Costa Blancas major towns. The other side of the town leads to the N322 which takes you along the coast down to Cabo Roig, La Manga and Cartagena.
The area is surrounded by endless possibilities for playing golf. The La Finca Algorfa Club is a short drive away and lies in natural surroundings of great beauty with fantastic views. The 18-hole course is the newest in the province of Alicante and it is situated at the foot of Mount Escotera, in the municipality of Algorfa, right in the heart of the Segura region. It has several lakes with running water and reed beds which has made the course home to a wide variety of migratory water birds, such as ducks and egrets, while the interior of the course is home to olive and palm trees, thus creating a beautiful backdrop of vegetation with a distinctly Mediterranean flavour.
Las Ramblas golf course is hilly with ravines, which can be up to 30 metres deep, and other water hazards making the course totally different from all the others. The course is protected from the wind by many trees, with some to be found on several fairways.
The Real Club de Golf Campoamor is built on a former country estate and is surrounded by beautiful unspoilt countryside. Its 18-holes run through two connected valleys surrounded by low, gently undulating ridges which protect it from the wind and create a special microclimate which allows people to play golf all the year round. The course is situated about 100 metres above sea level and is bordered to south by the Tagus-Segura canal.
Please note that most golf clubs have a strict dress code and may require a handicap card to play. The nearest course is the Marquesa golf and countryclub in Quesada and is the least formal and welcomes children. There are 11 more courses within an hour’s drive. Open all year.
