Home description
"La grange" is a traditionally converted barn on 5.5 acr of land that is sheared with the owner . It sleeps 7 possible 8 and 1 baby , with one master bedroom that is air conditioned, one twin bedroom with two large single beds and a mezzanine bedroom with one single bed and one double , and a portable cot is available , there is also a sofa bed in the living room. "La grange" is fully equipped, with everything usually found at home, including UK free to air satellite TV. Linen and towels are included. Covered terrace for dining and lounging outside, large barbecue, 5 meter diameter round above ground swimming pool. Situated on the grounds of a 1 acre private fishing lake containing carp up to 40lb. etc. The local Area is ideal for walking and cycling, as it is very rural, but it is also within easy reach of all amenities. Dax with every shop imaginable is only 10 kms. away. Clermont has it's own bar restaurant and small shop and is only a 10 minute walk . The Nearest market town is Pomarez, 5 km which has is own little supermarket and post office, doctors surgery, hairdresser and tennis courts.

The Aquitaine / Dordogne / Landes region
One of the greatest assets of Aquitaine is it's unique network of cycling tracks. 500 km of cycling, trailing the coast line and the Landaise pine forest. It is a wonderful area overflowing with historic sites, ancient châteaux, picturesque villages, lively markets and excellent cuisine.
The Aquitaine coastline is one long beach of fine sand and rocky coves. 250 km in a single stretch. Wouldn't want to walk that in a hurry all From 20 minutes to 1h20 from "La grange" You could also do skiing, walking, surfing, swimming, hiking, cycling, horse riding, golfing, shopping - all within a few minutes drive.
The weather here is mild all year, very warm in summer months.
Dax area
"La grange" is situated in Clermont a Tranquil Landais village in South West France . 15 minutes from Orthez 15 minutes from Salies be bearn 10 minutes from Dax . 30 minutes from Biarritz, with its international airport, beautiful coastline and wonderful surfing. 45 minutes from Pau and the Pyrenees mountains and it's ski resorts.
Dax is Famed for its natural hot water of 62.4 degrees centigrade, and healing mud from the River Adour. The Roman baths are a focal point for Dax and There are several hot water outlets around the town, where you can take a mud bath, or just bathe in the waters. In August Dax holds its annual fete, two weeks of celebrations ending in a magnificent firework display.
Biarritz is a lovely town with lots of shops for the girls , a beautiful rocky coastline with sandy beaches and Is todays Europe's surf capital and is only a 30 minutes drive.
Bayonne Famous for its "fête" - 5 days of non-stop festivities is also known for its bull fighting in August, and its famous ham. (Danish bacon is still the best!)30 minutes drive
St Jean de Luz, the old "Pirates town" with a beautiful harbor. Here and in the place Louis XIV are the ever popular artists, who display their paintings along the street. You can even get your portrait painted "while you wait". In the harbor you can take a boat to see the sights. It has a wonderful sandy beach in a natural bay. 40 minutes drive.
Salies de bearn also a beautiful spar town renowned for it's natural salt water is only a 20 minute drive with it's golf course and local fetes
Pau is a 45 mins. drive away with it's international airport and is a wonderful town to go for a day , it is full of shops , restaurants and bars . It also has a little English where you could get your English bangers from.
The Pyreenees are about 40 mins drive to the sky slops for winter or hiking in the summer , there are lots of sits to see up there , definitely worth a trip
The Dune du pylaa is a 3 hrs drive and is the largest sand dune in Europe . there are steps to get to the top but it is still a hard walk to the top . Also a definite place to go .
Carcassonne is a 2.30 hrs drive a medieval town with very nice restaurants and lots of site seeings including the dungeons .
How to get there
Routes from Calais can be emailed if required. We are 600 miles south of Calais, easy driving all the way. Ryanair fly from Stanstead to Biarritz and Pau twice daily, they also fly from Liverpool to Bergeracq . Arangements can be made for collection from Biarritz or Pau airport witch are both 60 KM away.
From dax take the D947 road in the direction of Orthez . At the 5th roundabout turn left for Clermont . Once in Clermont village after the bar/tabac take the 2nd turn on the left ( Route du haut de pouy ) also for the "Camping lagarest. "La Grange" is 1341 meters from the junction on the left, just after the camping which is also on the left.

" La grange" has a fully equipped kitchen which has a gas cooker with 6 burners, large oven and grill. Toaster, microwave, fridge/freezer, electric kettle, etc... Air condition master bedroom and terrace for dining and lounging out door.
