Chalet Arve in Klosters
This self-catering chalet apartment with its south and west facing balcony has splendid views comfortably sleeping 6 and comprises 2 bedrooms (1 ensuite), a large sitting room with a dining area and a very well equipped kitchen. The two bedrooms and the sitting room all have their own access to the balcony, which runs round almost the entire exterior of the apartment. Guests can also make private use of the property's own health centre, equipped with jacuzzi, sauna, plunge pool, shower/WC and a relaxation room.
However, what really sets this property apart is its location - a mere 5 minutes walk to the Gotschna cable car (even in ski boots!) and the central shopping area of the village. For beginners, there is the Heidlift, just 50 metres from the front door. Klosters is your classic romantic alpine retreat and for many years a great favourite of the British Royal family.
Klosters itself is divided into four villages - Monbiel, Klosters Platz, Klosters Dorf and Serneus. Chalet Arve is situated in Klosters Platz, which is the main village where most of the shops and restaurants are to be found and from where the Gotschna cable car and the railway trains depart. The adjoining Klosters Dorf is equally delightful and connects to its own Madrisa ski area via a gondola cable car system.
The whole Klosters / Davos area boasts over 300 km of pistes, 55 lifts which can transport 65,000 people each hour, 3 golf courses, 2 public swimming pools, numerous tennis courts and over 700 km of walking and hiking trails.
ACCOMMODATION: Chalet Arve is a modern building comprising 12 apartments and is centrally located in Klosters Platz. This self catering chalet apartment has 2 bedrooms (1 double with ensuite bathroom and 1 twin) and the sleeping accommodation is complemented by a very comfortable sofa bed in the sitting room. Bed linen and towels are provided for your use. In addition, there is a well appointed kitchen and a large sitting room with a dining area.
Two cots are available for babies, if required.
The sitting room comfortably seats 6, as does the dining area. There is also an HD satellite TV and a DVD player (with a library of DVDs in English and German), an Xbox with games, a radio/CD player and a Bose iPod docking station. Free wireless broadband internet access is available too. The sitting room also leads on to the sunny balcony with tranquil views of the surrounding mountains.
The master bedroom is spacious and bright with a large double bed and built-in wardrobe and drawers. The ensuite bathroom is of a very high standard and has a corner bath and a walk-in shower. The bedroom has its own access to the extensive private balcony, which runs around much of the property exterior.
The second bedroom is also spacious and is furnished with twin beds and built-in wardrobe, drawers and dressing table. There is easy access to a second WC/shower room. The bedroom also has its own access to the balcony.
The kitchen is equipped with all the usual essentials - fridge/freezer, oven and grill, raclette and fondue sets, dishwasher, coffee machine, toaster, cutlery, utensils, plates etc. and ample storage space.
Downstairs for guests' private use is the Health Room, lavishly equipped for those who like to self-indulge, with jacuzzi, a sauna room, plunge pool, WC and relaxation area - absolutely perfect after a hard winter's day skiing or a long summer hike.
Other facilities include an underground car park accessed by a lift/stairs from the property, together with a ski room for all the skis, boots etc. you don't want cluttering up the apartment. There is additional private parking just outside the garage entrance. The apartment is served by two laundry rooms, each with its own washing machine and tumble dryer.

The Graubunden region
Klosters has become world famous over the years - renowned for its stunning location in a wide valley high in the Swiss Alps; for its charmingly decorated chalets; as a ski and snowboard venue par excellence and as the favourite winter resort of royalty. Klosters shares much of its skiing area with neighbouring Davos and the ski pass grants you access to 300km of pistes, 55 lifts and 20 or more mountain restaurants. The resort also boasts one of the longest continuous pistes in Europe - over 12km long - and 105km of prepared cross-country trails. For the non-skiing winter visitor, there is almost an endless variety of other interests to pursue, including 3 giant sledge runs, 20km of winter walking trails, ice hockey, skating, curling, horse-drawn sleighs.
In summer, the Swiss Alps transform themselves into breathtakingly beautiful mountain meadows echoing to the sound of cow bells. The cable cars and mountain railways that served the skiers so well in the winter now transport hikers and sun worshippers alike to the numerous peaks that surround Klosters and Davos. Golfers will revel in Klosters, which has its own 9 hole golf course. If this is not enough, head over to Davos (10km) for a full 18 hole championship course. Other summer activities in and around Klosters include horse riding, tennis, mountain biking, downhill cycling, fishing, water sports, indoor/outdoor tennis, mini-golf, swimming, summer tobogganing at Schatzalp, rollerblading, clay pigeon shooting, rock climbing, mountain railways. Bon viveurs and gastronomes will also love what Klosters has to offer. In the immediate vicinity of Chalet Arve are two establishments of note - the Steinbock and the Walserhof. But there are many more including traditional
Swiss restaurants and superb pizzerias. Nightlife in Klosters is available, but is a little restrained - more piano bars than full blown discotheques. For the hotspots, head up the valley to Davos - a 10 minute car/taxi ride away. Alternatively, a night train will bring you back at weekends.

"Awesome Place, Great Owners"
We stayed there for a week this July and the owners Amanda and Kevin were incredibly helpful and hospitable. We had a very late arrival yet they waited up and helped us get everything situated.
Haus Arve is in a great location, with a short walk to pretty much everywhere you want to go. The apartment was beautifully maintained and had everything we needed. Haus Arve feels like a home away from home...we felt so welcomed and comfortable. Highly recommend this to anyone visiting Klosters.
