The West Country / Devon region
Devon is a popular holiday destination in South west England. Devon's scenery and climate have made the area a favoured destination for the past 250 years. Over that time much has changed, yet much of the character and many of the local traditions have remained. The coast and countryside are still extraordinarily beautiful, which is why more than two thirds of South Devon is carefully protected as a national asset, either in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty or as part of the Dartmoor National Park. The care taken of the environment is reflected in the approach
Dartmouth area
Dartmouth is characterised by its narrow lanes, stairways and corridors and plenty of medieval and Elizabethan features. It is a beautiful town steeped in history with many of the buildings dating back to the 16th and 17th centuries. The oldest building in Dartmouth is the Cherub Public House which dates back as far as 1380! The Britannia Royal Naval College famous for training the Royal Navy's Officers sits majestically overlooking the town and down the River Dart towards Kingswear and the Dartmouth Castle and out to sea. The Paignton and Dartmouth Steam Railway is on the Kingwear side of the river and trains run regularly offering a traditional and unique blast from the past. Woodlands Leisure Park is just a few miles away and this offers fun for all the family, you'll be truly exhausted after a thrilling day here! Ferry trips to Totnes and back a lovely way to spend an afternoon just sit back relax and enjoy the wonderful views as you wind your way up and down the River! Dartmouth really is a fantastic holiday destination,
