The West Country / Devon region
Devon is bordered by Somerset ,Dorset and Cornwall. Devon is England's third largest county and contains the two national parks of Dartmoor and Exmoor, it also boasts two coastlines.
Devon is a county of contrasts, from spectacular coastlines to beautiful wooded river valleys to wild open moorland or lush rolling countryside interspersed with picturesque villages with their thatched cottages and charming inns.
Kingswear lies in the South Hams region of Devon in an area designated 'of outstanding natural beauty'. It is on the East side of the Dart estuary overlooking Waterhead Creek with views of Dartmouth town.
Dartmouth / Kingswear area
This small village is on the edge of the River Dart, facing the naval town of Dartmouth. Frequent car and foot ferries take passengers into the picturesque town which has many shops, pubs, tea rooms and splendid restaurants. The ferry is a short walk from the apartment and operates regularly until 11pm. A few miles by car from Dartmouth is beautiful Blackpool Sands, another ten minutes takes you to Torcross, famed for its Nature Reserve and the 2 miles of beach at Slapton Sands. There are many wonderful walks around Kingswear, along the river banks or the more challenging South West Coastal footpath. Dartmouth Castle ,Agatha Christies home Greenways and the historic town of Totnes can all be reached by river boat. During the Royal Regatta week in August the sedate town of Dartmouth becomes a bustling hive of activity with much to see and do.
