The Nook is a very pretty and cosy Grade II listed cottage about 350 years old, located in Lower Street – Dittisham's truly peaceful, chocolate box location – perfect for a relaxing holiday. The cottage has been newly refurbished and offers a bright and modern interior whilst retaining its character and many original features. The village shop and the two pubs are all within a few minutes walk. The cottage is situated near Dittisham Mill Creek; at high tide it would be quite easy to launch a small boat. Children who need to let off steam will love playing on The Ham right by the river and crabbing on the pontoon – a favourite pastime for holiday makers in this delightful village.

Entrance into the hallway with coat, boot and general storage cupboards. The lounge/dining room is light and airy and is beautifully furnished with plenty of comfortable seating, pretty painted dining table and chairs, oak flooring, TV with DVD and BT Vision. There is a large inglenook fireplace with a wood burning stove. A doorway and hatch lead through to the kitchen overlooking the back garden, the kitchen has a slate floor and is well equipped with cream shaker style cupboards, integrated washing machine/tumble dryer and dishwasher, fridge/freezer, electric oven and halogen hob, and microwave.

A traditional curved stairway leads up to the first floor from the lounge. The master bedroom is furnished with a painted oak king-size bed and side tables, plenty of storage space and a built in wardrobe. The second bedroom has a 3ft single bed and a single futon. The modern bathroom is equipped with a shower bath with electric shower over, basin, WC and a heated towel rail.

From the kitchen, a stable door leads to a delightful, private suntrap garden with river views – an idyllic spot to watch the sun set. This area is laid to gravel with flower beds and has plenty of seating.

There is ample parking for 2 cars and a small boat. This cottage may not be suitable for small children or the elderly.

The West Country region

The ancient village of Dittisham surrounded by glorious countryside and the river Dart running by makes a lovely spot for a self catering holiday at any time of year. The dinghy pontoon on the Dittisham Quay will provide children with endless fun crabbing and just along the river bank is The Ham, an open green space with swings and lots of room to play and have a picnic. Right on the Dittisham quayside are the Ferry Boat Inn and the Anchorstone Cafe, both serving excellent local produce. There is a village shop and Post Office operating within the Red Lion Inn at the top of Dittisham. Dittisham is situated at the widest part of the River Dart making it an ideal place for learning to sail and many families return year after year to mess about in boats. Dittisham has two sailing schools for lessons and boat hire.
