**Please Note: the NEW Holiday Lettings nightly pricing & tariff calculator displayed to the right, calculates nightly rates by taking the weekly tariff rate and dividing it by 7. This nightly rate is misrepresented, as it does not take into account Short Break Percentages explained in the Tariff Notes section below. Sadly we have no control over this new trend towards nightly 'hotel-style' pricing so please get in touch and we will be happy to help you further.**

The West Country region

South Devon has a coastline of spectacular rugged cliffs and headlands, interspersed with lower-lying areas, sandy beaches and the five distinctive ria river estuaries of the Dart, Avon, Yealm, Erme and Salcombe.

The coastal scenery also includes reed beds, sand dunes, shingle ridges, mud flats, salt marshes, and the freshwater lake of Slapton Ley National Nature Reserve. This variety provides habitat for a diverse range of wildlife. The South West Coast Path National Trail running along the whole stretch of heritage coast, provides access to spectacular scenery, long views across bays and the English Channel, interesting beaches, and a scattering of coastal villages & historic towns such as Salcombe & Dartmouth.

The South Hams is only a few miles away and is recognised as being a great place to visit on a day out.

Although the main administrative town is Totnes, there are other towns which are probably more popular for visitors, especially those on holiday. We can suggest some great days out from your Torquay base that will give you a flavour of both the hustle and bustle and tranquility experienced by this region.

The South Hams has the estuary towns of Dartmouth, Kingsbridge and Salcombe, all well known as places to enjoy fine food and local shopping, not to mention their popularity with boat owners and fishermen.

There are some magnificient beaches such as Beesands and Slapton Sands, which stretches for miles to the rocks reaching around to Start Point.

If you want a great day out (without the car), take a trip to Paignton and catch the Steam Train to Kingswear and then the Ferry to Dartmouth. You could then take a ferry all the way back around Berry Head to Torquay Harbour. This can all be organised through a single ticket from Riverlink

The award-winning heritage Steam Railway is arguably the best in Europe, and offers one of the finest ways to discover the English Riviera coastline and Dart Estuary.

Taking to the water is second nature here; with sailing, wind surfing, canoeing, fishing and boat rental all available to enjoy from Dartmouth and the surrounding area.
