Home description
10 College View, as its name suggests, sits high on the hill overlooking the Britannia Royal Naval College and the River Dart . This is a traditional Devon cottage that has been modernised to give the best of both worlds. The house is accessed through an iron gate at the side of 1 College View in Fore Street (one house away from the Village Store). Climb up the steps past the lower cottages and you will come to the lower patio with its summerhouse. There are roughly 70 steps leading up to the house and it is not recommended for people with walking difficulties. Car parking is available in the Darthaven Marina car park and a weekly parking permit is available direct from Darthaven Marina. Heating is provided by electric storage heaters.

The West Country / Devon region
Kingswear, on the banks of the River Dart, has a lively villagey feel to it without being part of the hustle and bustle of larger resorts. A regular car ferry service crosses the River Dart to Dartmouth, where you will find quality designer clothing shops, antiques, art galleries and plenty of restaurants and tea rooms, including the famous New Angel.
Dartmouth / Kingswear area
Kingswear’s village store boasts about stocking “most things people require including locally baked bread, local farm eggs, sausages and other meats, local vegetables and general groceries and cleaning materials”. The post office provides banking facilities for some major banks. There are around eight restaurants, ranging from pub food to the Brunel Buffet in Kingswear Station, which is open when the steam trains are running to and from Paignton. The Paignton and Dartmouth Steam Railway, is a step back in time to a forgotten era. It runs from April to October and on selected days in December for special Christmas trips, and cuts through some of the most beautiful countryside on the English Riviera.
Close by is the National Trust property, Coleton Fishacre, an Arts and Crafts-style house with an elegant Art Deco-influenced interior. The gardens are particularly spectacular and include many rare and exotic plants.
