Longbow Barns, Dartmouth.
Barn | 5 bedrooms | sleeps 10
Longbow Barns is an ancient dwelling with all the modern facilities required for a relaxing holiday. Ideal for larger groups, the barn accommodates ten guests in three double bedrooms and two twin bedrooms, each with it's own bathroom. Three of them are en suite.
Upstairs there is a large L shaped sitting room diner with Chinese furniture and ivory coloured settees seating up to eight people. It has marvellous views of the countryside, down over the River Dart to Kingswear and out to sea.The dining area is next to a fully equipped kitchen and has a table and chairs with seating for six. This is the room in which to get together over drinks, or to relax on the squashy sofas, reading, or watching a dvd on the flat screen TV.
Downstairs there is a good sized fully equipped kitchen diner with table and chairs seating up to ten people. Guests tend to use this kitchen for day to day cooking and socialising. The cosy sitting room has three settees and french windows to the garden.
Outside, the main garden has a gazebo for shade in the summer months, a table and chairs, loungers and bbq. It slopes gently to a pond with a child safety grid. There are sea views from here.
There is another enclosed garden to the side of the barn and this also has wonderful views of the countryside, over the river to Kingswear and down the estuary. This space is flat, so good for playing boules or setting up a paddling pool. Here find more outside furniture, loungers and bbq (in full season).
The barn is situated high up overlooking Dartmouth and away from the hustle and bustle of the harbour. It has ample off road parking on the forecourt and is only a short walk down to the River Dart and the town centre.
It is just a ten minute drive to beautiful Blackpool Sands beach and the award winning Venus Cafe and restaurant. Slapton Sands and Slapton Ley nature reserve are a short drive further on.
The River Dart is an attraction in it's own right, with trips up to the historical town of Totnes or on one of the many ferries.
Guests have mentioned the convenient location of the barn making it easy to tour around the area. For walkers, Longbow is within walking distance of villages such as Dittisham, over the River Dart to Agatha Christie's Greenway and Brixham town.
The South West Coastal Path is accessible in both directions and takes you as far as you wish to go.

The West Country region
Dartmouth is located in the area known as The South Hams, Devon and enjoys a temperate climate due to the near proximity of The Gulf Stream. Steeped in maritime history such as Bayards Cove where the Pilgrim Fathers embarked upon the Mayflower on their journey to the New World in 1620.
Dartmouth has been a fishing port for centuries and an important Royal Naval base since the Elizabethan times when explorers such as Raleigh, Drake, Hawley, Davis and Gilbert opened up the trade routes and remains to this day a bustling port with commercial and leisure vessels of all shapes and sizes coming and going.
With Dartmoor to the North and the sparkling coastline in the South to explore, and all the towns and villages to visit, its no wonder that visitors return to Dartmouth time and time again
In Dartmouth town you will find wonderful restaurants to dine in and sample the local food including the catch of the day or enjoy the atmospere of the local inns.
Shopping along the narrow streets of Dartmouth is a joy and all this is at the mouth of the picturesque River Dart with it's historic past. Take ferry trips to ancient Totnes or around the bay.
The town holds festivals almost every month of the year including the popular Royal Regatta at the end of August and the famous Red Arrows display.
Dartmouth is surrounded by beautiful countryside which offers stunning walks along the South West coastal paths that take you through woods and farms, past beaches and coves. Or just relax along the Dartmouth embankment and watch the boats go by with an ice cream.
