What a location! In an elevated position, The Old Bakery is a stone's throw from the hustle and bustle of the buzzing town of Dartmouth. A warm welcome awaits you at this delightful three-storey townhouse, situated in the heart of this wonderful town. It is beautifully furnished with comfortable modern furniture, so welcoming and cosy you will immediately feel at home. With superb views out onto the ancient Saint Saviours Church and pretty Foss Street with its numerous boutiques and art galleries, the location could not be bettered. Dartmouth really is on your doorstep, being steps away from a local deli, you can pick up freshly cooked croissants in the morning or even have breakfast out at the famous Al Fresco's Cafe.

Dating back to 1852 The Old Bakery is steeped in history and retains much of its original character and charm. Converted from the former bakery and still retaining its original bread oven, it enjoys an exclusive position. The property offers sunny accommodation and is very comfortably furnished with a clean and neutral decor scheme. On the ground floor is the kitchen and lounge with granite flooring throughout. There are three pretty double rooms all spacious and very tastefully decorated which include a master bedroom with ensuite, stairs lead up within the bedroom to a mezzanine gallery, this area is ideally set up for parents with young children.

There is so much to see and do in the beautiful part of South Devon. The local area is famous for breath-taking scenery, Dartmouth's stunning waterfront, fabulous countryside walks and interesting and varied attractions. With the stunning beach at Blackpool Sands, just ten minutes by car, Woodlands Adventure Park and boat and steam train trips nearby, the area is perfect for family holidays all year round, whatever the weather!

Outside
The property is up a hill and there is plenty of space to off-load your luggage from the car. From the road there are 12 stone steps up to the property through a stable door into the kitchen.
There is no outside space at this property.

Kitchen/Dining
The kitchen is modern and well equipped with a 4-ring gas hob, electric oven, fridge freezer, slimline dishwasher, wine cooler and coffee machine. A small utility cupboard houses a washer/drier and microwave oven. There is a large dining table which can comfortably seat six. The open plan contemporary living area is just a couple of steps from the kitchen so there is no need to feel cut off from the rest of the family when you are cooking.

Lounge
The comfy sitting room has a roaring wood burner which will crackle away while you relax with a glass of wine. There are two double sofas and occasional furniture, flat screen TV with SKY Plus, DVD player, BOSE Soundock (for ipod).

Bedrooms
There are two pretty double bedrooms on the second floor which include a master bedroom with ensuite, stairs lead up within the bedroom to a mezzanine gallery, this area is ideally set up for parents with young children (can sleep 2 children on a truckle bed).
There is also a further double bedroom on the third floor.
All bedrooms have bedside tables and hanging space.

Bathrooms
There is a w.c with wash basin on the ground floor. Located on the first floor there is a large family bathroom with bath, shower, wash basin and w.c. In addition to the family bathroom there is also an ensuite.

The West Country / Devon region

Devon is a popular holiday destination in South west England.The scenery and climate have made the area a favoured destination for the past 250 years. Over that time much has changed, yet much of the character and many of the local traditions have remained.

The coast and countryside are still extraordinarily beautiful, which is why more than two thirds of South Devon is carefully protected as a national asset, either in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty or as part of the Dartmoor National Park.

The Dartmouth area

Dartmouth is characterised by its narrow lanes, stairways and corridors and plenty of medieval and Elizabethan features. It is a beautiful town steeped in history with many of the buildings dating back to the 16th and 17th centuries. The oldest building in Dartmouth is the Cherub Public House which dates back as far as 1380!

The Britannia Royal Naval College famous for training the Royal Navy's Officers sits majestically overlooking the town and down the River Dart towards Kingswear and the Dartmouth Castle and out to sea. The Paignton and Dartmouth Steam Railway is on the Kingwear side of the river and trains run regularly offering a traditional and unique blast from the past.

By Road
From the M5 motorway you're in South Devon as soon as you cross the Exeter Estuary when the road then becomes the A38 dual carriageway. From here, you can follow the road through to Newton Abbot, Paignton, Totnes and finally Dartmouth or you can come off the A38 on the Buckfastleigh slip road where Totnes and Dartmouth are clearly signposted. Follow the Signs to Stoke Fleming once you reach Dartmouth.
