Exceptional two bedroom apartment. 60 seconds stroll to river . Has been the subject of a recent total refurbishment and renovation.
Extremely spacious lounge, with large bay window (incorporating window seat) giving beautiful views onto one of the town’s most characterful streets . Family bathroom PLUS separate WC cloakroom.
Very short flight of steps (approx 8 ) from street/ front door to first floor. Unlike many Dartmouth properties located so close to the river, this one DOESN'T involve excessive amounts of steps to access the property or stairs once inside! (Many Dartmouth properties do).
Gas central heating, washing machine, dishwasher. Broadband Internet. "BT Vision" digital TV with digital recording & Live Play/ Pause etc.
Parking permit for town car park until end of October (when parking restrictions are lifted over the winter on most streets) AND there is parking on the street right outside property (although these are not 'guaranteed' spaces). And even when there is no parking space right outside the property, cars can pull up for a while to unload without blocking road (with many Dartmouth properties this isn't possible ).

Overview:
Recently refurbished, large, two bedroom apartment located less than a minute on foot to the river and the historic "Bayard’s Cove", famous as the departure point of the Pilgrim Fathers ships and the filming of the 70s TV series, “The Onedin Line”.
The spacious, light lounge with superb bay window and window seat gives panoramic views up and down Newcomen / South Town one of Dartmouth’s most historic streets. The high standard and finish in this property is seen clearly from the photos.
This is a stylish, contemporary property which has been totally and thoughtfully renovated and now affords a light, bright, modern, comfortable and relaxing environment (with gas central heating). The decor has been set with a nautical theme in mind; from the wonderful porthole shaped mirror and the powder blue boat cabin seat cushions, to the lifebuoy bath mat in the cloakroom / WC and the model sailing ship featured in the old fireplace . The open plan lounge/dining/kitchen is a lovely light and airy space that can accommodate the whole family with ease. The perfect getaway for those looking for spacious and relaxing accommodation, and it's just a (very!) short stroll to the river embankment or into the centre of the beautiful estuary town .
Lounge:
The lounge is a lovely light and airy room with a large bay window with window seat that looks out onto Newcomen Road.
Kitchen/Dining:
The kitchen is modern and the doors are glossy white with stainless steel handles. The worktops are a black granite finish. There is fridge with freezer compartment,
dishwasher, microwave and a built in oven and ceramic hob.
Master Bedroom:
Double bed. Two bedside cabinets and bedside lamps, wardrobe, dressing table and chest of drawers.
Twin room:
Two single beds . One bedside cabinet. with a bedside lamp, wardrobe, dressing table, chest of drawers and ample high level suitcase storage.
Bathroom:
The bathroom has a bath with shower over. Single wash basin with light and shaver point over, and WC.
Additional WC:
A separate WC cloakroom is located on the corridor again with basin with light and shaver point over.
Utility Room:
This is a useful addition to the apartment and there is a washing machine and a hanging dryer to dry out your beach towels and swim gear.above

The West Country / Devon region
There is a wealth of things see and do in the West Country as well as having some of the most breathtaking scenery in the United Kingdom, it has several award winning beaches to relax on. BlackPool Sands, Slapton Sands, Bantham to name a few. The climate during the summer is often balmy as the Gulf Stream warms the seas in the area, makes for excellent surfing and other water based pursuits. The landscape and coastal scenery is among the most spectacular and beautiful in Britain. Wonderful coastal path walks, inland rivers and villages brimming with that famous Devon character. As far as attractions are concerned there is the Eden Project a vast eco-project with huge bio-domes to explore which offer many species from around the world as well as plenty for kids to do.
The Dartmouth area
Dartmouth with its beautiful old-world centre is considered the capital of the South Hams, famous for peaceful rolling countryside, renowned coastline, excellent beaches (Blue Flag status) & coastal walks along footpaths leading to secluded beaches.
Dartmouth’s focal point is its bustling harbour and broad, wooded river. The town is designated a Conservation Area with 16th and 17th century timbered buildings, historic narrow streets, beautiful old shops, intimate pubs and excellent restaurants. Beach lovers will enjoy Sugary Cove near Dartmouth Castle as well as the beautiful Blackpool Sands and the long, unspoilt expanse of beach at Slapton Sands both of which are approximately 10 minutes drive.
Numerous attractions include the outdoor pool, pleasure cruises upriver to Totnes; Sailing or hiring motor boats for exploring the river or fishing; taking the Kingswear car ferry across to Torbay’s more bustling resorts of Brixham, Paignton and Torquay (10-15 minutes) or travelling on the restored steam train running between Kingswear and Paignton.
In August, Dartmouth hosts The Royal Regatta with funfair, sporting events, fireworks dispays and an array of boats. Some of the great beach destinations include Slapton, Torcross, Hope Cove, Beesands, Prawle, Salcombe, Bantham (surfing) Modbury and Thurlestone.
Recommended day trips include the estuary towns of Totnes and Kingsbridge, the riverfront village of Dittisham, a trip to scenic Dartmoor, a visit to the superb Plymouth Aquarium, a day at the truly superb Paignton Zoo or Woodlands Leisure Park.
For fishing enthusiasts there are plenty of opportunities to go out to sea and fish for flat fish, bream, pollock, bass and mackerel. Sharks and Conger Eel are also caught regularly. Fesh water fishermen have abundant opportunities for both coarse and game fishing in well stocked reservoirs or on river beats.
So much to see and so much to do with no shortage of activities to keep the kids happy.

Totally blown away by this wonderfully equipped and beautifully furnished apartment and all the little luxuries that were included. We stayed for a week and were all so relaxed. Whenever we returned to the apartment we felt it really was home from home. The added bonus being just a few minutes walk to all local restaurants and amenities. Thoroughly recommend and will certainly be returning as will our 2 friends who stayed with us.....just book it now! |

This is a lovely flat - comfortable, well equipped and spotlessly clean. The location is brilliant ( it really is only 60 seconds walk to the river), a couple of minutes walk to the town centre, 15 minutes to the coastal path and well placed for some lovely pubs and restaurants. The booking agent and owners were helpful, friendly and gave us lots of information to help us get the best out of our stay. Don't know what it's like in summer but Dartmouth in winter was great. The weekend we were there coincided with their annual Christmas market which included a candlelit procession and live music on the Saturday night - really good fun and a lovely atmosphere throughout the town. |
