Set within one of the prettiest parts of the Dartmouth countryside in the "South Hams", this property overlooks glorious, rolling Devon landscapes and the picturesque rural valley which leads down to one of the tributaries of the River Dart estuary. The very convenient setting is only approx. three minutes from the historic and beautiful town of Dartmouth. A tranquil, practical location (superb rural views, no problems with parking, easy access to beaches) surrounded by rolling Devon landscapes yet only a short drive from the Dart Estuary or the truly superb Blackpool Sands and Slapton beaches.

Comments from previous guests regularly refer to the chalet and its lovely location offering very good value compared to many of the other self catering options in Dartmouth (and with the added benefit of space, views, comfort and quiet). Visitors appreciate the views, the tranquility and the way in which the property is ideal for either relaxing in or using as a base for exploring this stunningly beautiful area.

Most of the chalets are set out in short, terrace style (this chalet is end of terrace thus benefits from a grassy area in front and also to the side (ideal for children to play on and or relaxing in the sun) with great views over adjoining countyside . This is a great location for taking advantage of nearby Dartmouth's excellent range of ‘characterful’ cafes, restaurants, pubs and shops and is a particularly practical location (if you don't wish to drive on holiday) being on a bus route down into Dartmouth (very short journey - 2 mins approx) and the nearby beaches.

The West Country region

There is a wealth of things see and do in the West Country as well as having some of the most breathtaking coastal scenery in the United Kingdom, it has several award winning beaches to relax on. The climate during the summer is often balmy as the Gulf Stream warms the seas in the area, makes for excellent surfing and other water based pursuits. As far as attractions are concerned there is the Eden Project a vast eco-project with huge bio-domes to explore which offer many species from around the world as well as plenty for kids to do.

Dartmouth

Dartmouth and its olde-world centre is considered the capital of Devon's spectacular South Hams region famous for peaceful rolling countryside, renowned coastline, excellent beaches (Blue Flag status) & coastal walks along footpaths leading to secluded beaches.

The local focal point is Dartmouth's bustling harbour and broad, wooded river. The town is designated a Conservation Area with 16th and 17th century timbered buildings, historic narrow streets, beautiful old shops, intimate pubs and excellent restaurants.

In addition to the stunning local beaches, numerous attractions include the town's outdoor swimming pool, pleasure cruises upriver to Totnes; Sailing or hiring motor boats for exploring the river or fishing; taking the Kingswear car ferry across to Torbay's more bustling resorts of Brixham, Paignton and Torquay (10-15 minutes) or travelling on the restored steam train running between Kingswear and Paignton. Tennis is available in Dartmouth's Coronation Park and the excellent town golf course is less than 5 minutes drive.

For fishing enthusiasts there are plenty of opportunities to join a sea fishing charter boat for flat fish, bream, pollock, bass and mackerel. Sharks and Conger Eel are also caught regularly. Fresh water fishermen have abundant opportunities for both coarse and game fishing in well stocked reservoirs or on river beats.
