About this location

The Devon region

Dartmouth is within the South Hams a district in South Devon. It got its name from the numerous pig farms that were in the area, now designated as an area of outstanding natural beauty. There are lots opportunities to take to the water, sailing, canoeing, windsurfing, sea fishing or an enjoyable ferry up the river Dart to the Medieval Market town of Totnes. A random car trip can reveal some gems, such as Burgh Island with its art Deco hotel, or the outlining villages with their charming pubs, or just enjoy the flowing hills followed by a lazy day at one the splendid beaches.

Dartmouth

The historic town of Dartmouth has long associations with the sea, and sailing. The Dartmouth Royal Regatta has been running since 1834. Its a major local event with some great racing on the water and superb air displays, including one from the renown red arrows.

Dartmouth boasts many restaurants including two from the renown Mich Tonks. Alf Rescos the famous coffee bar is a must for breakfast or a hearty lunch. Many pubs serving real local ales, the oldest is the seven stars dating back to the 16th Century. The town enjoys many festivals throughout the year, including music, comedy and food fests, gig rowing, local village carnivals and even a worm charming competition

"A lovely apartment, great views of the river Dart"

Try a trip steam boat trip up the river to quirking Totnes, great for shopping then return by steam train, Or go to Greenway - home of Agatha Christy.
