The property is accessed from either Above Town or South Town via steep ancient steps.

At the top of Nelson Steps, in Above Town, there is a garage which is not suitable for large cars. However, it will accommodate a normal estate car.
There are some narrow stone steps leading to the lower patio area and care should be taken whilst accessing this area.
There is a wooden gate that leads from the upper patio to the property next door. Children should be under the supervision of adults whilst outside on the patios
There is a small patio area to the lower elevation of the property with four white metal chairs and table. The Devon region
Devon is a popular holiday destination in South west England. The scenery and climate have made the area a favoured destination for a few hundred years. Over that time much has changed, yet much of the character and many of the local traditions have remained.
The coast and countryside are still extraordinarily beautiful, which is why more than two thirds of South Devon is carefully protected as a national asset, either in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty or as part of the Dartmoor National Park.
Dartmouth is characterised by its narrow lanes, stairways and corridors and plenty of medieval and Elizabethan features. It is a beautiful town steeped in history with many of the buildings dating back to the 16th and 17th centuries. The oldest building in Dartmouth is the Cherub Public House which dates back as far as 1380!
The Britannia Royal Naval College famous for training the Royal Navy's Officers sits majestically overlooking the town and down the River Dart towards Kingswear and the Dartmouth Castle and out to sea. The Paignton and Dartmouth Steam Railway is on the Kingwear side of the river and trains run regularly offering a traditional and unique blast from the past.

"The Good the Bad and the Ugly"
The Good - The house was lovely. Beautiful views and very nicely decorated.
The Bad - Blue River holidays, who we rented through, were very unhelpful. They also tried to take £10 from our damage deposit for two light bulbs! One of them didn't even work when we arrived. They did reimburse this, but as a goodwill gesture, which I still don't understand. Don't bother asking if you can get into the property earlier. Despite offering this if pre-arranged, as we had a young baby in our party we asked and were declined. suffice to say, the property was ready early and although they had my mobile number, they didn't bother to let us know. What a shame. After coming to Dartmouth Regatta for 23 years and renting through lots of different agents, we've never been treated in such a petty manner.
The Ugly........Blue River holidays :-)
Thank you for your review of 7 Nelson Steps. I am so glad you enjoyed the property and your holiday in Dartmouth.
We are sorry that you feel that Blueriver are the 'Ugly' part of your holiday. We try to meet the expectations of all our customers and make every effort to ensure they have a comfortable and pleasant stay for the duration of their holiday.
The reason we wanted to charge you £10 was because you removed some fittings from the property and we did this upon the Owner's request. In fact, we took the decision to refund you £10 because we wanted your repeat business and therefore, felt that it was a goodwill gesture that we were willing to offer you.
As far as gaining early access to the property, yes of course we always try to accommodate guests requests for this where possible. On this occasion however, the property was not ready for occupation as it was being cleaned from the previous guests who stayed and therefore we could not offer you early access.
We take feedback from our guests very seriously and therefore, we are very disappointed at your review of Blueriver Cottages. We have not only met the expectations of many of our guests but have also exceeded them. We continue to receive compliments and sometimes even flowers and chocolates from our happy customers who return year after year.

"Delightful - wonderful all round views"
Lovely accomodation with all home comforts. We thought the pictures may be like Estate Agents' over glamourising things, but the opposite was true - the pictures cannot properly illustrate what you get here. Walk in and you are satisfied with what you find in respect of facilities and comfort, but then walk up the stairs for the Wow Factor ! All the rooms are comfy - only complaint being the double bed in the master bedroom - the duvet hides the sharp hard corners of the bed legs, which floored me three times in the week (sober) and left me in severe pain. The childrens bedroom was perfect for our three to share. The access steps may not be suitable for everyone, but for the able bodied, they are worth climbing over & over for the superb views.
Thank you so much for your kind words. I'm so glad you enjoyed your stay at 7 Nelson Steps, as you say it is a stunning property. I hope you'll be back next year, or sooner perhaps! Best wishes Phil
