The Devon region
Higher Venice is ideally situated for both 'away-from-it-all' breaks and more active holidays which might include coastal walking, sailing, visiting National Trust properties, exploring Dartmoor, or trips to nearby towns such as Modbury, Kingsbridge, Totnes or Salcombe. The beautiful naval town of Dartmouth is only 10 minutes away, as is the eclectic market town of Totnes.
A 20 minute walk down the path from the back of the garden leads to the superb pubs/restaurants of nearby Tuckenhay (the first hamlet in the UK to have street lighting!). Parking exists for several cars, boats etc.
Located in the pretty hamlet of Allaleigh in Devon and set in over 4 acres of grounds, Higher Venice is a stunning location for families and larger groups (up to 12).
The tranquility alone will recharge your batteries. The clarity of a clear night sky is stunning. You will quickly wish that your stay could be longer.

Higher Venice was spacious, big enough for 12 of us not to feel overcrowded. The gardens were lovely - the children enjoyed exploring them. The setting was quiet but not far to travel to find things… More

"I real retreat from the modern world we live in."
A great place to get away from it all. Lovely grounds that the kids had great fun exploring. I would not recommend it for kids under 3. Over all great value for money.… More

"A great location that is perfect to either simply Chill out or visit beautiful beaches and quality restaurants"
The house is very clean with modern facillities that all work well, plenty of hot water and the bedding was lovely and fresh.... Tucked away in a small hamlet close to Dartmouth , we took a lovely walk on our first evening through the greenlane footpaths to the local pub on the river ( the Maltsters ) which was previously owned by the chef Keith Floyd , which is now a fine gastro pub. Visited the local beach the following day which was very clean with fine pebbles as against sand , there is also a good restaurant there which is very reasonably priced for breakfast and lunch....All in all a great place and we will be re-booking later in the year....Digby
