Beechwood Lodge Annexe
About the home
Situated 4 miles from Tavistock on the edge of the Tamar Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the annexe offers detached, self-catering accommodation in a beautiful setting. We are within the Tamar Valley World Heritage site established to promote and preserve the mining history of this area which was known as the Devon Great Consols. These mines were the largest producer of copper in Europe in the mid-1800's.
Within 15mins of Dartmoor we are ideally situated for you to explore the many attractions the region has to offer. A walker's paradise, North and South coast beaches and the Eden Project within an hour's drive, many NT properties close by and the much acclaimed market town of Tavistock close to hand.

The West Country / Devon region

We are located on the Devon/Cornwall border and thus well situated to explore this beautiful region. No part is that far from the sea so the area benefits from a milder climate compared to the rest of the UK. The area contains Dartmoor and Exmoor and, of course, a spectacular coastline.
There are activities and interests to suit every taste ranging from surfing on the sea to surfing in the trees, horse riding, hiking, cycling, exploring historic sites or just plain relaxing on the beach!
There are plenty of good restaurants and fine country pubs all over the region and, naturally, seafood is a speciality along the coastal towns and villages.
The area is mainly rural with Plymouth, Exeter and Truro being the larger cities. Outside of these the towns are compact and in between there are scattered small villages and hamlets with very low density housing. Off the major routes the roads tend to be quiet with relatively small volumes of traffic - by modern standards at least!
The Dartmoor / Tavistock area
The very popular market town of Tavistock is 10mins drive. Tavistock has been "Market Town of the Year" and boasts a daily covered market. Dartmoor is just 15mins and the Historic Mining Port of Morwellham Quay just 10 mins. The North and South Devon and Cornwall beaches are within an hour and Newquay around one and a half hours. We are close to the Devon/Cornwall border. There are many sites of historical interest such as the Devon Great Consols Mining Area, Buckland Abbey and Cotehele very close by.
The recent creation of the Tamar Valley Mining World Heritage site has brought much development to the area and for those with an appetite for the outdoors there is much to offer locally. There is tree surfing, biking, hiking trails within minutes. Other sporting activities such as swimming and tennis are also close by.

A well equipped cottage in a really peaceful setting. The location is perfect for touring the beautiful Tamar Valley and Dartmoor, and is within very easy driving distance of both the North and South Cornish coast. The nearest town is Tavistock, full of interesting shops and a wonderful indoor market. This cottage is ideal for either couples or families and I would def recommend. |
