Further details indoors:
Great Burrow Cottage was listed in the Sunday Times "50 Coolest Cottages in Britain and Ireland" Jan'09
It comfortably sleeps 5.
The hot water and heating is from a very efficient geo-thermal ground loop heat exchange system, keeping the cottage at a constant temperature no matter what the weather. We now have a woodburner to make things extra enticing in the autumn and winter.
Beautifully converted with oak and slate floors, it has a master double bedroom and a loft bedroom with 3 single beds. (The beams are a bit low in places so mind your head!)
Beyond the garden, Great Burrow also has two stables and a paddock, which can be rented along with the Cottage.
Further details outdoors:
The large partly wooded garden has two big wildlife ponds and a firepit with far reaching views. We have free ranging chickens too!

The cottage was lovely and very well maintained and the surroundings were idyllic. The hosts, Mary and Justin, could simply not have been more welcoming and helpful; when we arrived later than we had anticipated and with no provisions, they gave us ingredients from their kitchen and garden for our dinner that night. I highly recommend a stay here to anyone who wants to get off the beaten path but still have access to so many interesting places to go and see with a drive of an hour or less. The only fly in the ointment was, well, flies, as we had a number of them in the cottage, however, it was clearly us who let them in with our comings and goings. |
