House | 4 bedrooms | sleeps 8
Thorncliffe House is situated in Darley Dale near Matlock on the edge of the Peak District National Park. It's ideally located to visit the numerous sights and attractions in the Peak District & Derbyshire Dales. Great for walkers and cyclists with secure storage for your bikes.
The house is maintained to a very high standard and has everything you need to make your holiday perfect. There's four double bedrooms, one has a King Size bed and a luxury en-suite bathroom with walk in shower. Two others have double beds and the fourth has two single beds that can be linked together on request to form a Superking bed. There's also a modern family bathroom with a shower over the bath.
Downstairs the entrance porch leads into a large hallway with an office area. The living room seats 8 people and has a large flatscreen tv with freesat, dvd player and music system. The large kitchen/dining room is a lovely light room with patio doors leading outside onto a paved area. The dining table seats 10 and the fitted kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need and more, including a wine fridge. There's a large fully equipped utility room if you want to do your own laundry and a downstairs cloakroom with wc and hand basin.
Outside is a secure garage with electric door for one car and ample parking at the front of the house for more cars. There's a paved patio area with tables and seating for 8 people and a large enclosed lawned garden that benefits from the sun all day. We recommend supervision of very young children in the garden at all times.
The house backs onto an open playing field that has a small childrens play area at the top, close enough to be handy but far enough away not to be a nuisance.

What a fabulous place to stay for Christmas and New Year. Nestled in the Derbyshire Dales on the edges of the Peak district. This home offers fantastic views across the valley. Easy access to Matlock and beyond. Walking distance to not one but three local pubs and an Indian restaurant. Being on a hill could have issues for the less ambulant. We were snowed in for almost two days but had plenty of supplies and brilliant neighbours who came round with candles on Boxing Day when there was a short power cut. They also lent us a spade to clear the drive. A marvelous slope at the back saw many families sledging for days. They very generously loaned sledges to the children in our party who were improvising with plastic bags. Definitely a community spirit even if we were only there 10 days. The house was better than it looks in the pictures, almost everything you could need in the kitchen. All finished off to a very high standard. Kate was there to meet us when we arrived and gave us early access as no one was moving out the day we arrived. I would definitely recommend this property.
