"Lovely stay, real home from home"

Really enjoyed our stay at The Mistal! Diane was a pleasure to deal with :) House was beautiful with many antiques and adequate room for us all to stay, it had everything you could need and a few wee extra treats - Thank you. There was 2 double bedrooms and we had the sofa bed up (located in a little annex bit between one of the bedrooms and the lounge), again a double which was great for the two toddlers to sleep,Wish i could have stayed longer. Would love to revisit. :) Thanks again.

thank you so much for your kind review

"Clean, well placed to travel to a number of places and interesting"

The property was a well built and maintained barn conversion. We were greeted on our arrival by the owners who took time to explain how things worked and showed us a book which included instructions for everything. Beds were comfortable and everything you would need for the stay was provided. Property was very clean and welcoming.

Thank you for your kind review

"Warm welcome, lovely converted outbuildings but lack of surface/cupboard space for our clothes, food, toiletries etc"

We spent a very enjoyable week @ The Mistal. We arrived to a warm welcome from the owners & the place was immaculately clean. On attempting to unpack our clothes, we found the drawers in the bedroom locked & the wardrobe full. There was no bedside unit or lamp in either bedroom. Every available surface was covered with teddies etc. In the absence of wardrobe/drawer space, we all ended up having to stack our clothes on the floor. My parents in law had the larger bedroom. Sadly, the window opens on to the sitting room rather the outside, so they found it hot over night. Having cleared the owners' toiletries & ornaments from the bathroom, we were able to put our toiletry bags down. The kitchen cupboards & shelves were similarly bursting at the seams. We stacked food items in boxes on the kitchen floor. The gas-fired range in the kitchen, whilst lovely in the winter, I'm sure, meant cooking/preparing food in the summer was unpleasantly hot. Ornaments, Buddhas etc covered every surface throughout the place. Whilst we felt it was attractively furnished and very homely, we would have looked for less of the owners' things & more space for those renting it, at least for clothing & food items to be stored. On reporting a fault with the toilet-flush, the owners sorted it instantly. The two sitting rooms & spacious dining room were perfect. The larger sitting room was gorgeous - full of character, comfortable & the surround sound was awesome. We spent a v enjoyable evening watching the DVD of 'Les Miserables'. Whilst we felt it was a lovely home, we felt due to the amount of the owners' possessions filling storage/surface areas, we would be hesitant to recommend it for rental, I'm afraid.

Thank you for your review which is really appreciated * Although there where three wardrobes we where not informed by yourself that you required more space you should have said. * Sorry we put extra towels in drawers just in case you required more which we always do. You only needed to removed them if you wanted to use drawer space * The storage room is for hanging coats and storing shoes which I did point out to you on arrival and you was happy with * The toiletries in the bathroom I explained where for your use sorry if you did not know this you should have said * The kitchen is a farmhouse style kitchen as advertised and apart from the fridge/freezer the storage is under counter and shelves for storage a bit different I know from your conventional kitchen which makes it unique * We like the house to feel homely instead of it just having blank walls as it holds a lot of history, we treat all our visitors as friends and want them to enjoy the surroundings My contact details are always left in the property if anyone requires any anything. I never received a call other than the toilet flush which we rectified instantly sorry you did not let me know of other issues which could have been easily rectified. We like our guests to have an enjoyable stay. Kind regards Diane

"A Hidden Gem"

We stayed at the Mistal to celebrate my birthday a week ago. It was the perfect place for myself and my sisters to all get together for a pamper night. The location is tranquil and private and we sat out in the Courtyard enjoying the sunshine. This property is cosy, beautiful and filled with character. Our favorite room being the large annex room accompanied by a large fridge cooler. We met Diane who made us feel very welcome and was kind enough to leave us some complimentary chocolates!. We all hope to stay at The Mistal again soon, we didn't want to leave. It truly is a hidden gem!.

Lovely to meet all of you and I do hope to see you all again Kind regards

"This property is cosy, comfortable and full of character."

We received a very friendly welcome from Diane and Howard. They provided us with all the information we required about the property and surrounding area. The Mistal was easy to find yet in a private, peaceful location. We felt safe and secure and loved coming back to the warm Rayburn and feature fire in the lounge. The rooms were spacious and comfortable and full of curios and knick knacks which added to the character and interest of the building. We would have liked more cutlery and cupboard space but over all we had a restful and enjoyable stay and would not hesitate to recommend the property.

Thank you for your kind review regards

"The Great Getaway from the City!"

My friends and I have decided to stay overnight at this beautiful cottage which was hidden in the gorgeous cornfield. The cottage was very clean and cozy, and our favorite part of the house was the spacious kitchen! we absolutely loved cooking on the traditional stoves, and having the quality dinner on the long beautiful table was just priceless. We wish we had more time to relax and walk around in the woods, but we would definitely go back there if we ever get a chance. I highly recommend this place, and thank you Diane for the lovely experience.

Thank you for your kind review hope to see you all again soon

"An amazing place to stay"

I travelled from Australia to spend Christmas and the New Year with my family in the UK and stayed at the Mistal for two weeks. We had a wonderful time and a big part of that was down to this property. We arrived to be met by Howard and Diane and you couldn't wish to meet two nicer people. There was a roaring fire greet us and a very warm welcome from Diane and Howard. The house and the annexe were beautifully decorated for Xmas which was a lovely surprise and we were even given a Xmas gift. The Mistal is a lovely place to stay, like a home away from home. There is everything you need to give you the most comfortable of stays. Every room was extremely comfortable and I especially liked the kitchen. We loved the idea of the annexe as it meant we could have all the family to visit at one time as it is such a huge space. The property is also well situated for long walks in the countryside which we enjoyed. Also it is in a really tranquil area. I would highly recommend this property and I intend to return there in the future

We both enjoyed meeting you all and are so pleased you enjoyed your stay it really means a lot to us. We do hope you come back again to the newly extended Mistal. Thank you so very much for you kind review
