The Northern England / Yorkshire/Yorkshire Dales region
The North York Moors National Park covers 554 square miles, with landscape ranging from heather-clad moorland and deep secluded dales, to the cliffs and coves of the magnificent coastline. A haven for walkers, the area also boasts great cycling, gliding, riding and fishing, whilst North York Moors Railway is the perfect way to enjoy the beautiful scenery in a more relaxed setting.
Visit the market towns of Pickering or Thirsk; the latter famous for its links with the English country vet and author, James Herriot. Nearby, some of Yorkshire’s best-loved villages including Thornton-le-Dale and Rosedale Abbey offer a taste of village life, as does Goathland, ‘Aidensfield’ in the TV series ‘Heartbeat’. Finally, stop off at Castle Howard and Duncombe Park, two of Britain’s most historic stately homes situated in breathtaking parklands and gardens.
The cliffs, sandy beaches and smugglers’ caves of the Yorkshire coastline are a haven for beachcombers and coastal walkers. Discover the quaint fishing villages of Robin Hood’s Bay and Staithes, with their brightly coloured fishing boats. Finally, there’s the historic city of York, with its interactive Viking Centre, Roman walls, medieval streets, vibrant shops and gothic York Minster cathedral.
The Danby area
In the picturesque Esk Valley is the moors village of Danby. It boasts two public houses, both serving food, tea-rooms and a bakery. At nearby Danby Lodge there is an excellent National Park Visitor Centre set in 13 acres of beautiful riverside pasture and housing exhibitions and offering nature trails. The ruins of Danby Castle, built in the 14th Century, are just waiting to be discovered and the last remaining working water mill on the River Esk can also be found here. The Esk Valley Way is a 35-mile trail that starts at the source of the River Esk and ends at Whitby harbour, going through many of the villages on the Esk Valley Railway. This area makes a superb base to see this tremendous area.

Guestbook for 1107 - Liverton Lodge
The property was a beautiful building, very spacious and very clean. The owners had thought of everything you could possibly need. I would recommend Liverton Lodge to anyone wanting to stay in a property with character.

,The space was amazing. The age of the property and original features, the outlook, the central heating, the new kitchen, the convenience to the pub and Fish and Chip shop. Truly fabulous stay.

,The cottage was a lovely and comfortable place to stay and I would certainly book 'Liverton Lodge' again. The garden was wonderful for my german shepherd, she loved chasing about and I didn't have to worry about her getting out. The one thing which kept my husband quiet was the piano he loved it. Thank you very much.

,The comfort of the cottage and the property was warm. The beds were very comfortable, the chairs and settee were comfortable and the open fire in the evening was wonderful with lots of space. Having two fridges was really handy.
