Villa Leisha
About the home
A private villa in a quiet location, a short distance outside the beautiful village of Dalyan. The villa is a fantastic base from which to explore the Dalyan delta conservation area, the Dalyan river and lake Koygeiz as well as the beach and stunning coastline.
Dalyan itself has a very traditional feel to it and its riverside location overlooked by the Lycean tombs gives it a timeless feel. There are many wonderful restaurants providing a wide range of dishes, as well as a great number of bars to suit all tastes. Dalyan is a relaxing getaway and quite different from the usual beach side town. The famous Turtle beach is fantastic and can be reached easily from Dalyan via a water taxi or by road (car/minibus). The beach has the usual beds and umbrellas available and there are a good beach bars.
The Villa is located a 20-25 minute stroll from the riverside at Dalyan, in a quiet rural community. There are a few other villas around but these are interspersed by small holdings and local houses, so it is very quiet but with a real sense of security.
The surrounding fields are of pomegranate and citrus orchards as well as grazing with the stunning backdrop of the mountains. If you want peace and quiet but with the option for good food and entertainment close by then these properties fit the bill.

The Turquoise Coast/Lycia region

Dalyan is in an area of outstanding natural beauty, and the river delta is a national conservation site. There are many historic sites in and around Dalyan.
The harbour offers rare and varied bird and animal life attracted by the reed beds. You can enjoy the Aegean coast which is the most beautiful coastline of Turkey, with pine clad mountains dropping into the clear blue waters.
The weather is generally very good all the way through from April to October and can get very hot in the middle of summer. There tends to be a gentle breeze which is welcome either in off the sea or from the mountains.
The Dalyan / Arikbasi area
Dalyan remains relatively undiscovered and retains lots of its traditional Turkish hospitality and charm. It stands on the banks of the river which runs from the beautiful Koycegiz lake, past the rock tombs and through the reeds to the Iztuzu beach and the Mediterranean Sea.
The colourful Saturday market has fresh produce and spices as well as bargain fashion accessories and jewellery. The town has a wide range of shops and well-priced restaurants which cater for every taste. There are also some quality supermarkets, butchers, fish mongers and bread shops for those who prefer to cook for themselves.
Dalyan feels a relaxed and safe environment and local people are both friendly and courteous.
There is a wide variety of activities and places of interest including:- turtle spotting, microlight flights, white water rafting and gorge walking, jeep safaris, water sports, fishing etc. There are boat trips from Gocek around the 12 islands, to Ekincik Caves and across the lake to the mud baths or Koycegiz market.

I stayed at Villa Leisha with my husband and daughter (8months) and some friends, one of the couples with another baby. Right from the beginning when I contacted Paul about the villa, he was more than helpful and the whole booking/payment process was simple. He provided equipment for the babies at an extra cost but this was minimal and took the hassle out of taking cots etc with us. The transfers were there when we arrived, with the baby seats we'd requested and they took us straight to the villa with no problems. The house itself is beautiful and was very clean when we arrived. there were a couple of minor problems whilst we were there (ran out of gas for the cooker) but these were recitified as soon as we informed the rep about them. The pool is amazing and is looked after by locals who came nearly everyday to clean it etc. The shallow end isn't very shallow so I'm not sure it would be suitable for more independant children of walking age, but our babies were happy enough with us in there with their inflatables on. Tge pool/garden gets sun all day but there are plenty of shady areas and enough sun umbrellas etc to get away, and the villa has air con throughout> town is about 15 mins stroll away, but the taxi services are brilliant as well. There is a mosque next door from which you can hear the prayers at various times of day, ut we found it quite therapeutic, and couldn't hear it at night at all. In fact the villa is very quiet at night which is nice. we saw the local police/security patrolling a couple of times which was nice to know as well. All in all, we loved staying at Villa Leisha. Its secluded (but safe) and quiet but near enough to the town. Its very clean and has everything we needed. Paul is wonderful and we wouldn't hesitate to go back! |
