The Turquoise Coast/Lycia region

The Dalyan region is a conservation area and as such is highly protected against over development.
Gokbel is about 12 minutes from Dalyan and eight minutes to the beach. The nearest shop for essentials is a five minute drive. A very small rural village, do not expect tarmac roads. The locals are warm and welcoming, the Turkish people are known for their hospitality and their excellent cooking. Wonderfully peaceful and quiet, the odd sound from across the valley the tinkle of sheep bells or perhaps a tractor in the distance, that is Gokbel. We have seen tortoises lumbering up the track passed the house and fireflies dancing in the mulberry tree at night.
July and August are the hottest two months, the evenings in May and October can be quite cool but can also be warm so we suggest taking sleeves in case. The winters are supposed to be quite wet.
The Dalyan / Itzuzu Beach area
Iztuzu beach is one of the last nesting sites in the mediterranean for the Loggerhead Turtle. Two miles of sand in which there are areas restricted for the turtles but ample space to find a spot away on your own. There are facilities at either end of the beach where sun beds can be hired and drink bought.
Dalyan a small town on the banks of the reed river in this beautiful conservation area made famous by the turtles nesting on Itzuzu beach. There are numerous good restaurants and bars to cater for all tastes. Sit down at the side of the river overlooking the Lycian tombs and have an efes (a beer) or a che (Turkish tea) in the tea gardens.
Take a water taxi up the lake to the market at Koycegiz on a Monday and stop off at the mud baths and sulphur springs. We quite often hire a boat for the day and either go out to sea to a cove, swim and the boatman then serves us up a barbecue or have a day on the fresh water lake. They also offer night time barbecues on the lake. There are a great number of water birds to watch and in the autumn catch the flashing blue of kingfishers in the reeds. We often see river turtles but have only once seen the big loogerhead turtle which was very exciting.
Visit the roman ruins of Kaunos, take the bus to Fethiye or a Gulet trip around twelve islands from Gocek - perhaps a jeep safari and have lunch up the mountains at the trout farm. There is a recently build golf course about 10 minutes from Cicek. Walking riding, snorkelling and fishing or just sit by the pool with the WOW view from Cicek and enjoy a drink and your book.

We had a week at Cecik Evi for our first visit to Turkey in 2010. The Villa is placed up in the hillside with fantastic views. It is very well appointed and has air-con which is a boon when returning from an exhausting day out in the sun. The main town is only 10-15 mins.drive away with some lovely little restaurants that you must visit between the villa and the town itself. I would definitely visit Turkey again and definitely recommend this particular villa. |
Guestbook for Cecik Evi
"We had a fabulous time in Turkey, and what really made it was Cicek Evi! It is such a beautiful place that you have there and you have put so much into it. Waking up every morning to sunshine and that magnificent view...a swim, breakfast with turkish coffee, what more can I say?" - Kevin and Ann from Dublin
"This villa is just gorgeous - what amazing views and the pool and the sunsets. all perfect!" "We also loved the really comfortable beds" "The kitchen is really well equipped" - Alison F
Well what can I say, your villa is amazing. We all had a fantastic time and were amazed at the beauty of the place. We have travelled all over the world and found it to be one of the most amazing situations. Even the three 18 year old boys were enthusiastic about the place which takes a lot. Joanne Carter and family and friends.
Our short stay at Cicek Evi was a real highlight of our two week holiday to Turkey. It's a fabulous villa with the real WOW factor. We really loved the quiet village location with its local feel, which offered peace and tranquility without being too remote. It was nice to have friendly neighbours nearby and Oskan was great at looking after us... he even picked us ripe fruits from the garden. The elevated position is incredible with views that are simply breath-taking. The villa itself has a nice modern feel and it's really spacious and comfortable. Loved the big wetrooms! We definitely recommend your wonderful property to others.. J & J
Definitely one of our best ever hols. Your villa is so comfortable and spacious with everything needed for a totally relaxing holiday. The views are just breathtaking, how did your manage to find it?? We have many highlights, the lovely friendly people, the day we hired a boat and saw the sea turtles, the tortoises wandering past your villa. Dalyan, but it is the view that we will never forget. No photograph or description can do justice to Cicek and its special situation - we just loved it to the point it was difficult to drag us away to do other things. We are so envious.......... Mike C
The villa was so much more than we had dreamt of. The peace, the quiet, the views, the wildlife, the gardens, the comfort, the edible fruits, the smells, the sound from the mosque. No photos or conversation could do this peice of Turkish paradise justice. You have to be here to experience its delights, joys and serenity......taken from guest book Oct 2010.
I just want to say thank you so very much for letting us have the most wonderful villa we have ever stayed in. We were absolutely blown away by the views and area and loved it so much. You are very lucky to own the most amazing 'haven' and it exceeded all of our expectations. The Neal family August 2011
