The Turquoise Coast/Lycia region

The area around Dalyan is stunningly beautiful, very green, with pine covered mountains, lakes, rivers & waterfalls and a stunningly beautiful coastline. There are many fascinating towns & villages to visit, all of which have a colourful weekly market. There are also many fascinating historical sites within easy reach.

Dalyan

Dalyan is a charming small riverside market town, bustling, friendly and interesting but commercialized.

There is a wide variety of shops, bars and restaurants which overlook the river, opposite fantastic ancient rock tombs carved high in the cliff. Many of the restaurants have wooden dining platforms built out over the river, where you can dine and watch the giant Turtles. The colourful weekly market is a great place to find interesting bargains! Many of the restaurants have dining platforms built over the river and overlooking the cliff tombs.

The local beach, which has been voted as one of the most beautiful in the world, is totally stunning, a long stretch of soft sand, framed by a back drop of pine covered mountains. The gently shelving beach is ideal for children.

Due to the Sea turtles that nest there, it is a conservation area, meaning the natural beauty of the area has been preserved by a building ban.

There are toilets, changing rooms and small cafes serving drinks, snacks & freshly made Turkish pancakes cooked over an open fire.

Boats travel down the river to the beach all da from the towny, an amazing trip that takes you past the rock tombs & through the reed beds to the beach, a trip not to be missed.

There is a huge range of activities in the Dalyan area, including Scuba Diving, sea kayaking, snorkelling, sailing. paragliding, jeep safari, horse riding, turtle watching, boat trips, mud baths, belly dancing, yoga & we can even arrange Turkish cookery classes. There are many important historical sites, the ancient site of Kaunos is just across the river. Ephesus, one of the best preserved Roman cities in the world, is breathtaking, a must for anyone interested in ancient sites.
