About this location
The Aviemore and the Cairngorms region
The Cairngorm National Park is a spectacular area of the Highlands and Aviemore is right at the heart of it. There is a wealth of outdoor activities on our doorstep and so much stunning scenery to enjoy.
Aviemore is a good base for exploring the Highlands as we are only 35 miles from Inverness and the famous Loch Ness Monster. The West Coast can be explored in a day trip, as can the Moray coast.
Nearer to home we have Loch Morlich, just a 10 minute drive away or a very enjoyable cycle ride, where there is a beautiful sandy beach and watersports available. Loch-an-Eilean is just outside the town and has been voted the most picturesque picnic spot in the country.
The Cairngorm Mountain offers winter skiing and snow boarding, and in the summer months visitors can visit the highest restaurant in the country by the funicular railway.
If eating at the top of the mountain isn't to your taste why not treat yourself to lunch or dinner on the steam train which runs from Aviemore to Glenbogle (made famous in Monarch of the Glen)
Aviemore has over a dozen restaurants to suit all tastes and pockets. There are a couple of supermarkets, one of which is located a minute walk from the cottage - and has a really good deli counter!
