Ptarmigan View is a comfortable and well-appointed modern home nestling at the foothills of the majestic Cairngorm mountains, in the town of Aviemore in the Highland region of Scotland. Located in Cairngorms National Park, it is within easy reach of many beauty spots and nature reserves.
The house accommodates 8 people, so is perfect for holidaying with friends as well as family, and has been furnished to meet a wide variety of holiday requirements. The cosy living room is equipped with TV, DVD player and CD/radio, and also has a wood-burning stove which gives a warm glow on cold winter nights, and the house has WIFI so you can access your preferred entertainment or find out what is going on in the area. The kitchen and dining room contain everything required for catering at home, but if you prefer eating out there are excellent restaurants, cafés and bars in Aviemore, which is a 5 minute drive or 20 minutes walk away.
The garden has a patio, accessed through French doors from the Dining Room, good for outdoor dining and barbecues in summer. Bedrooms come complete with bed linen and towels, and there is extra if required. The Master Bathroom has an en-suite shower room, and there is also a larger family bathroom. There is an extra shower room on the ground floor.
There are many activities to experience around the area. "A great cosy holiday home"
A lovely new build holiday cottage with 3 showers and 4 bedrooms so suits a large party. Dining table only seats 6 but we squeezed in an extra chair but would be difficult to seat 8 adults. Furnishing… More
Thank you for the great review, we're glad you enjoyed your time at Ptarmigan View.
We're grateful that you let us know about the can opener - a previous guest must have taken it by mistake but we replaced it straight away. We also checked the wood-burner, it's absolutely fine and works perfectly, but the briquettes provided can be a bit difficult to get started is you're not used to them - you need to use a lot of kindling to create a good blaze at the beginning.
The dinning room table is comfortable for 6, but we've managed to get 8 people round it too, a little bit of a squeeze but still do-able.

We stayed at Ptarmigan View earlier this summer. The house is set at the north end of Aviemore village in a newish housing estate. This is about a ten minute stroll into the main part of Aviemore. The houses round about all seemed to be holiday lets and the atmosphere was quiet and tranquil with little or no noise at night .We travelled as an extended family and there was ample room for three cars to park off road. The views at the back of the property are of the Cairngorm mountains .
The house was clean and well laid out- ample bathrooms/ showers for 8 people. The kitchen had most of the things one would need to eat in every day but as the weather was stunning we did not need to do so. The garden has a picnic table and there is other garden furniture if you wish to have a quiet day at home or if the weather was so hot- as in our caes- that you could eat out.
We had to search for information as to when to put bins out but found it eventually. Although this is in no way a critisism we think it would have been more helpful if information such as that was put in folder with tourist information in a more noticeable place than a drawer.
All in all we found the property to meet the needs of all of our party- aged from 21 up to 90 and I would readily recommend it to anyone who might want an outdoor holiday in the highlands of Scotland in any type of weather as the property has washing machines, woodburning stoves as well as ample bedding
Thank you for the great review! Noted your comment about the bins - good idea to make a folder of this kind of info. Will do that as soon as possible.
