We take pride in the quality of Kipplochan Lodge. One of nine lodges, it sits in its own grounds, with private parking, and has beautiful open views over landscaped gardens, a central Lochan, and the open countryside beyond - a perfect base for exploring South West Scotland! The Lodge layout comprises an open plan lounge, with comfy leather sofas, dining area for 6, and a fully fitted kitchen with everything you need. There are 3 large bedrooms, the Master, ( king sized bed, and en-suite bathroom ) and 2 Twin bedded rooms, all have fitted wardrobes. There is a family bathroom, with overhead shower, and Utility Room with washing machine and tumble drier.
Beds are all made up, and towels are provided. So more space in your car!!
Our lodge is accessed up 2 steps, with handrail, onto a decked veranda. You are able to sit out and enjoy the countryside from this area, or choose to enjoy the garden and lochan, from the large decked area accessed from the lounge. Either is lovely.
Locally :-
Kippford is within a 15 minute stroll downhill, and offers two pub/restaurants, the Mariner and the Anchor, both serve lovely food, and there is nothing nicer than watching the sun go down over the yachts, admiring the surrounding countryside and enjoying a relaxing drink! Both allow dogs. There is a very active yacht club, the "Ark" shop. a local pottery, access to lots of walks, and shell beaches.
Dalbeattie is less than 15 mins down the road, and has a good range of local, well stocked convenience stores, and take away/ dine in eating places. Colvend also has a store and postal service.
Things to do:-
WALKING - Explore the area, with endless forest, coastal and hill walks, some literally on your doorstep! Walk to Andy Goldsworthy's amazing Striding Arches.
CYCLING - The 7-Stanes Mountain Biking areas are all easily accessible by bike and by car - Dalbeattie is less than 10 minutes away, with family routes and skill loops, it caters for all abilities. The tracks at Mabie, Ae, Newcastleton, Glentrool and Kiroughtree are further afield. Cycle Hire is avalable locally, and the Lodge has hose facilities for washing down you bike.
GOLFING - Bring your clubs, or hire. Enjoy a round at Craigieknowes 9 hole course or putting green ( just a stroll up the road ) and finish with a light refreshment and a bite to eat at the Tee-Room. Colvend and Southerness are 18 hole courses.
WILDLIFE - Dumfries and Galloway is a haven for wildlife, from red squirrels to redkites! Galloway Wildlife Conservation Park, Galloway Kite Trail, and National trust Bird Sanctuary, are a few places that you need to take your binoculars!!
SAILING - Kippford, Kirkudbright and Loch Ken to name but a few.
EATING - Beef, lamb, seafood, local cheeses, local beers, ales and award winning ice-cream, hand-made chocolates, bakery produce, award winning butcher specialities, to name but a few flavours. Dumfries and Galloway has it all

A deposit of 25% of the fee secures booking. Balance payable 4 weeks prior to your arrival.
We would ask for Damage Deposit of £50.00. This is fully refunded within 7 days if Lodge is clean and tidy upon change over.

The Dumfries and Galloway region
Dumfries & Galloway's turbulent past has left a legacy of many castles and historic monuments. At Buittle Tower & Tournament venue, just 4 miles away, you can see what new developments the recent archaeological dig has turned up.
Sweetheart Abbey, one of Scotland' s most romantic with its poignant tale of love lost, is within 20 minutes drive, as are Threave Castle and Gardens of Threave and Arbigland - Mighty Caerlavock Castle and Logan Botanic Garden are further afield.
The Dalbeattie / Kippford area
Kippford – picturesque village on the Urr Estuary. 2 pubs, a yacht club, 9-hole golf course, chandlery, art and gift shop, a pottery, shingle beaches. Popular for sailing. Public path joining Kippford with the neighbouring village of Rockcliffe and Rough Island, a bird sanctuary, all providing lovely gentle walks with views across the bay. Rockcliffe, only 1 mile away by the Jubilee Path or forest trails, also has a sandy beach good for rock pooling and there is a big sweep of golden sand 3 miles away at Sandyhills with facilities, shop & picnic areas.
Mabie Farm Park - nr Dumfries, 20 mins drive via New Abbey, easily an all-day event, go-karting, quad bikes, grass sledging, animal paddock and pet handling, indoor & outdoor play, hay barn, good cafe but also excellent picnic areas. Tons of space to charge around!
Castle Douglas ('Food Town') – 15 mins, celebrated for its speciality shopping and now has a monthly Farmer’s Market.
Threave Gardens, Castle Douglas – beautiful grounds, NT café and a new adventure playground.
Threave Castle - just outside Castle Douglas. A boat takes you across to castle. Bird reserve. Ospreys.
Beaches- Kippford has shell and shingle beaches at the end of a quiet coastal walkway, Rockcliffe has a gentle shelving sandy beach and Sandyhills (3 miles) has a large golden sandy beach.
Mersehead RSPB Bird Reserve - 15 mins drive. Wetlands, walks, visitor centre with excellent viewing room, great for children and adults alike. Famous for the thousands of Barnacle Geese that visit
There are special events on throughout the year, the Kirkcudbright Summer Festival (Thursday evenings) and Palnackie 'World Flounder Tramping', various agricultural shows etc.

M6 Heading North.
Name changes entering Scotland to M74.
Take slip road left to A75 towards Dumfries/ Stranraer/ South West Scotland.
Follow signs Dumfries A75
Keep on A75 signs for Stranraer.
Look for signs Dalbeattie A711.
In Dalbeattie follow coast road A710 to Barnbarrock.
Turn Right signpost Kippford.
Kippadock is on the left just past Doon Park Caravan site.
Lodge is 1st on the right.
From the North.
M8 towards Carlisle.
Follow signs M73 Carlisle at Junction 8 take sliproad left to M73 Carlisle/The South.
Follow signs for M74 South Carlisle.
At juction 15, take sliproad left to A701 Moffat/ Beattock/ Dumfries.
Follow signs Dumfries A701
Watch for signs A75 Stranraer pick up A75 Stranraer road.
Follow signs A711 Dalbeattie.
In Dalbeattie follow signs A710 coast road.
At Barnbarrock turn right at sign post Kippford.
Kippadock is on the left just after Doon Park Caravan site.
Kipplochen is first on the right.
