Forest Lodge is a detached property snuggled in a peaceful setting on the fringe of Kippford in Galloway; the South West corner of Scotland. Surrounded by woodland yet very close to the sea makes this property idyllic for those seeking a relaxing retreat. Kippford often enjoys a mild climate; the area is known to be caressed by the Gulf stream and often referred to as the Riviera of Scotland! This area of Galloway is renowned by locals as ‘The Golden Triangle' – made up of Kippford, Colvend and Rockclilffe due to the wide expanses of golden sandy and often empty beaches. Take time to walk from Kippford to the charming village of Rockcliffe and enjoy the beautiful views out to sea. There is a pub serving good food in Kippford and a shop offering local facilities in Colvend both being equidistant at 1.5 miles from Forest Lodge.

The Dumfries and Galloway region

Just over the English border lies Dumfries and Galloway in the west and the Scottish Borders in the east. These two very distinctive areas have retained a totally rural and tranquil atmosphere where visitors can enjoy a wonderful holiday away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. In fact here you'll find miles of beautiful untouched countryside and striking coastlines; a great place for outdoors holidays, fishing, walking, sailing and cycling. Coastal and beach strolls and small fishing harbours waiting to be explored. The capital city of Scotland, Edinburgh, is probably on most people's ‘must visit' list and with good reason. The city is renowned for its magnificent architecture and historical buildings, which include Edinburgh Castle and numerous museums and galleries. Today Edinburgh is a thriving modern city with world class shops and restaurants and lots of traditional atmospheric pubs.

Dalbeattie

There is a wealth of legends surrounding Kippford, thought to have once been the haunt of smugglers. Today it is a pretty village with quaint fisherman's cottages and where at low tide a walk from the beach to Rough Island is a must. Take time to visit Orchardton Tower, with its spiral staircase hidden within double walls that lead to a parapet; it is thought to be the only round tower in Scotland. Threave Castle in Castle Douglas is also well worth a visit – ring the bell for the custodian to row you across the moat! Kirkcudbright is a picture perfect harbour town close by. Its historic high street is lined with pretty colourful houses
