The Turquoise Coast/Lycia region

The Turquoise Coast, situated in South West Turkey is named after the beautiful colouring in the lakes, rivers and sea due to the limestone rock and also the abundant plantation which grows right down into the water. This fascinating area is attractive to tourists because of the fabulous climate, spectacular scenery and rich ancient history.
The warm welcoming Turkish people enjoy having visitors from abroad and are friendly and courteous with tourists. It is normal to be offered tea when browsing in the shops and markets and to be treated like an honoured guest when invited into local homes.
The Dalaman / Akkaya Valley area
If you are feeling energetic it is easy to fill your holiday itinerary with something different every day. Locally it is fascinating to see the ancient Lycian tombs at nearby Dalyan, go on a river cruise to see the protected giant turtles, and stop off at the thermal mud baths for some beauty treatment. Gocek is a delightful local marina town frequented by the rich and famous, where you can book daily 12-Island yacht trips at very reasonable prices.
Ancient archaeological sites of Roman ruins, deserted ghost villages and huge Greek amphitheatre are a must for the cultured tourist. For bird watching go to Koycegiz Lake and for Thermal Spas, to Sultaniye. An organized 3 hour day trip to Bodrum is worth the effort with many other spectacular day trips including Pummakkale for the healing waters and Olympus for the atmospheric perpetual mountain fires. Available locally are hiking, swimming, snorkelling, horse riding, sailing, fishing, diving, river rafting and paragliding!

A totally stunning place to stay, surrounded by mountains on 3 sides and a view of the lovely lake on the other side, villa was totally home from home, everything you could possibly need,a car is a must as beaches are a 30 minute drive away, but given the stunning location of the villa it is a small price to pay,so much to see and do,found Turkish people to be warm and friendly, also change money from gbp to lira when you arrive as you get better exchange rate. |
Guestbook for Lakeside Villa
"My partner and I spent 3 weeks in this beautiful villa last spring/summer, and I recommend it most highly".
"The accommodation is first class, the bedrooms beautifully furnished and the sitting room and kitchen had
everything we could want, right down to a sandwich toaster"!
"The air conditioning is very necessary because it was hot weather but we never felt too hot indoors. We
had drinks every evening on the 1st floor verandah overlooking the beautiful turquoise lake, and our lunch on the downstairs terrace". The owners have thought of everything, we even had candles, beach towels, books and magazines".
"I have stayed in many places in the world but this is truly the best self catering accommodation I've ever used. If you want hectic night life and rowdy surroundings don't go here. It is peaceful, tranquil and a real home from home".
"The outdoor pools are a good size & literally 5 yards from the door and when we were there, very quiet. It was lovely to mosey back to the villa and bring a cup of tea or glass of wine to enjoy beside the pool. (Tip - train your partner!)". I even went in when we came back from dinner at midnight for a swim, as the water was still warm".
"The local restaurant has to be seen to be believed, it is beautiful with excellent food and the local people were charming. We ventured to several places with a hire car but were always glad to return to the peace of Lakeside-villas. We are going back next year definitely".
