About this location
The Turkish Aegean Coast region
Located on one of Turkey's most southern points; Dalaman takes pleasure in a Mediterranean climate with warm summers filled with sunshine and mild winters.
If you're a beach lover in search of hot, and on occasions blistering hot climates, it is recommended to vacation to the Dalaman region throughout the summer months. From the months of April through until October the climate in Dalaman varies from 20ºC to 35ºC, while July and August guarantee to supply the hottest temperatures of the year. There is practically no rainfall from the months of June until September and visitors to region can expect at least ten hours of extremely hot sunshine every day throughout this time. Some people tend to find the typical climates of August a little too hot, however the soothing breeze from the Mediterranean Ocean will assure to help lower the scorching temperatures. Climates are average at approximately 20ºC in April, therefore creating an ideal vacation for an Easter break in Turkey.
AKKAYA GARDENS RESTAURANT AND BAR
A 5 minute walk from the villa is this lovely all day restaurant serving a mixture of very high qualitiy Turkish and European cuisines. Extremely popular with the local residents and their guests, it offers both fully air conditioned indoors and beautiful outdoor eating areas, with the opportunity to sit in the Storks Nests set high in the trees. Be warned the food is excellent but the portion sizes are large!
For those wanting the extreme lazy holiday you can combine eating at the Akkaya Gardens and purchasing your basic groceries from the small shop by the main entrance. From here you can book boat tours of the lake and horse riding excursions. The property management offices are next to the restaurant and will happily offer help and assistance to guests.
An absolute favourite of ours. You can catch the municipal boat across the lake to the Mud Baths or take a lazy trip down the river past the Lycian Tombs and head to Turtle (Iztuzu) Beach. For a more relaxed and different experience why don't you haggle for a private hire boat, there are many to choose from in Dalyan and this will allow you to create you own timetable and schedule. The boat owners are happy to anchor up in a safe spot and allow time to swim in the beautiful lake, well away from the other tourists; a good idea is to take a lunch with you. For those preferring a more organised trip, Dalyan offers many companies that will arrange various activities including Horse Riding, Diving, Adventure Days, Walking, Jeep and Canyoning trips. Dalyan boasts numerous family friendly restaurants, some of which allow you to sit along the riverside over looking the floodlit Lycian Tombs in the evening.
The closest beach is Sarigerme offering beautiful golden sands, sun loungers and shades. Newly improved in 2014 with parking facilities in the beach area itself. There are plenty of planted areas offering natural shade further up the sands and there are also private cabins for changing if required. There is a snack bar with a great pancake kitchen adjoining. With both safe swimming and dedicated watersports areas, this is a definite hit for all ages!
Can be reached by an idyliic boat ride from Dalyan. This stunning sandy beach offers a great day out for all the family. There are specific protected areas for the Turtles and this prevents you going on to the beach after dark. The beach also offers sunbeds and shades for hire, plus basic refreshments.
This is a beautiful marina town that is now easily accessed through the Gocek Tunnel. The 12 island tour leaves from here and is a must in order to see the beautiful coastline of Turkey, the lovely islands, azure sea and coastal ruins. For the land lubbers it is just lovely to walk around the marina and see the variety of boats and super yachts owned by the rich and famous; to walk through the shopping area and soak in the atmosphere at the cafes and restaurants. This is a great place to sit and watch the world go by.
For those wishing to travel a bit further on their holidays then a trip to Fethiye with its beautiful marina and esplanade (see photo) offers a larger tourist resort experience. Other places of interest are Kadyanda, Pinara, Xanthos, Tioa, Pantara and Ephesus. If you wish to visit the Greek Islands of Rhodes and Symi then you can catch the Hydrofoil from Marmaris and Fethiye.
