Further details indoors

The villa has hopefully been equipped with everything that guests require to make their stay comfortable. Change of bed linen and towels will be arranged on a weekly basis. Guests are requested to provide their own beach towels. A starter pack of basic provisions will be provided. Guests will be met at the airport on arrival and guided to the villa, where any necessary assistance will be given.

A single satellite TV antenna provides the signal for several villas. This provides access to many UK programmes through the satellite box provided.

There is currently no land line telephone at the villa, but there is a reasonable mobile signal. A dongle is available to facilitate internet access via Vodaphone.

Further details outdoors

Pool maintenance, garden maintenance and 24 hour security is provided under contract through the local agents, Curbanoglu. Ample car parking space is provided in the driveway adjacent to the villa.

Further details

Please note that the pool is unfenced (as is customary in Turkey) and is very close to the villa. Extra care therefore needs to be taken regarding the supervision of very young children.

Similarly the top terrace has a low level balustrade which may be hazardous for the very young (the solution is to keep the door to this terrace locked). The villa is located on a steep hillside. There are some steep drops and the owner will not accept responsibility for injuries or accidents resulting from a lack of parental supervision.

Road access to Whiterock from Dalaman is now fully tarred, but considerable care is necessary (particularly after dark), as the road is narrow and falls away quite steeply in places. Be warned and drive carefully!

The Turquoise Coast/Lycia region

Located in an area of outstanding natural beauty, opportunities for bird watching amongst the reed beds of Koycegiz Lake, visiting wonderful open air markets in Dalaman, Fethiye, Koycegiz and Dalyan. Swimming at Saragerme and Iztuzu beaches - the latter is famous as a breeding ground for the Caretta-Caretta turtles, and is off limits to people at night.

Archaeology at historical sites of Kaunos (30 mins drive) and Ephesus (3 hours drive away) is fascinating. Dining along the riverside at Dalyan facing the floodlit Lycian tombs of ancient Kaunos is a magical experience. The famous Oludeniz Lagoon about an hour's drive away. A golf course is being constructed at Saragerme. The spectacular Sarsala Cove is only about 30 mins away.

Dalaman is a small, mainly agricultural town, unspoiled by mass tourism, though it now has a modern international airport. Whilst there may be limited touristic attractions in the town itself, it is a very natural Turkish farming community, and does have good shops, cafes and restaurants, which are improving all the time as the area has been designated for touristic development by the government. Nearby Gocek is a very fashionable yachting centre.

Akkaya Valley has been developed as a hydro-electic project, with several dams along the river, forming several turquoise lakes which are attractively fringed with pink oleander bushes. One of the unique features of this area, is the very beautiful gardens in the deep ravine in front of the villas, with delightful paths (well lit by very attractive lighting features which blend in with the surroundings) pools, bridges across the stream, facilities for barbecues, and tree platforms for observing nature, or having a quiet drink. A meal can be enjoyed at the unique Akkaya Gardens Restaurant and Bar which is within 5 mins walk of the villa.

The main attractions at the villa are the complete peace and quiet in this beautiful Akkaya valley, where there are opportunities for many activities, including sailing on the nearby lake, or on the sea from Gocek, which has become a fashionable and very popular yachting centre.

There are many restaurants in the Dalaman area (only 15 mins drive), or in the international yachting centre of Gocek (only 30 mins drive), or at Dalyan, an attractive riverside town (about 30 mins) with access to the famous turtle beach. Good beaches are only 30 mins drive away.

Main attractions at the villa are the complete peace and quiet in this beautiful Akkaya valley, where there are opportunities for many activities, including sailing on the nearby lake, or on the sea from Gocek, which has become a fashionable and very popular yachting centre. Enjoy a leisurely twelve island cruise from Gocek around the beautiful coast on board a "gulet" - a Turkish sailing schooner, anchoring in one of the many beautiful coves for a leisurely swim in the clear blue sea. It is a spectacular day out which can be enjoyed by all the family at reasonable cost.

Other activities may include fishing, horse riding, canoeing, white water rafting, walking, bird watching, or simply relaxing and listening to the croaking of frogs in the adjacent stream.

There is direct access to this restaurant from the villa down some steps and path through the gardens (or easier access by car in less than 2 mins). There is an attractive grass roofed cocktail bar on a timber platform overlooking a pool often frequented by frogs and toads. Have your drink there or take it to one of several tree platforms a few yards away (see photos) although climbing down again afterwards after a drink or two is entirely your own responsibility! Sometimes in season a Turkish night is arranged with accompanying entertainment.

For those interested in archaeology or ancient history, there are many opportunities all along the coast for visiting some of these sites. To view the site at Kaunos (some interesting Lycian tombs of the ancient Kings as well as a well preserved amphitheatre, Roman baths etc) take the row boat across the river from Dalyan.

The ancient site is in a specacular position overlooking the estuary and the famous Iztuzu (turtle) beach, which forms a sandbar stretching for 4km. Other interesting sites are located at Fethiye, Kadyanda, Pinara, Xanthos, Tlos and Patara (to name just a few which can be reached within a day's outing). Others are accessible only by boat. Ephesus is a 3 hour drive away. The Greek islands of Rhodes and Symi are within easy reach and there are day excursions by hydrofoil from Fethiye or Marmaris in summer.

"Picture perfect, beautiful, peaceful Villa"

We were met at the airport late at night with our hire car and taken directly to the villa to ensure we found our way. The drive from the airport was approx 25 mins and was great not having to get a transfer bus. We would highly recommend a hire car as you can then get about and visit local areas and attractions.

Upon arrival at the villa we were all blown by it. The full marble flooring and staircase gives it a real wow factor. The private pool and Bar B Que is for exclusive use of the Villa. With stunning views across the valley, hills and lake all adds to the experience.
The Villa itself is finished to a very high standard, the kitchen has all the mod-cons including a dish washer. The bedrooms are large and there is plenty of space to pack away clothes and cases. The icing on the top is the solarium, early evening drinks were often enjoyed in the relaxed surroundings. There is a very comfy lounge area and a couple of large balcony areas with table and chairs to enjoy food and drinks as you please.

There is a restaurant close by which is a 5-6 mins walk. There are two ways to get there, the first by walking along the quiet road and the second which we preferred was via the lush gardens next to the stream. The restaurant is set in magical surroundings, with frogs and fish in the pond and you can sit up in the trees in the “bird nests” this was really fun and the staff were really friendly and made you feel very welcome.

Our group consisted of 5 people, 2 couples and 1 single traveller. There was no sense of overcrowding as the villa is big and can easily cater for that number.
We stayed for 2 weeks and it was our most relaxing 2 week break to date, just wish we could have stayed longer!

I would highly recommend the Villa, everything was made easy by the management company, they even arranged a boat trip on the lake which included lunch and was purely for the 5 of us. I did a spot of fishing and caught a few whilst enjoying a cold beer.

This villa really is in an idyllic location, if you are looking to relax and get away from life's stresses then this is the place for you. Enjoy....

"Great holiday in an amazing secret valley, with lovely friendly people"

The hire car company recommended, was very efficient and was waiting to take us up to the villa, this was essential as trying to find the villa for the first time particularly in the dark would be challenging. The property has everything you could wish for and is a spacious 4 bedroom villa with very high quality fixtures and fittings. It has a lovely pool and stunning views with lots of places for sunbathing and shaded areas demanded by my better half. A fantastic restautant is only a short stroll through lush gardens with a maountain stream running through. There are several activities available in the valley suitable for all ages and the staff are very helpfull and friendly. A car is essential to get out and about to many of the other busy tourist attractions along the coast. Gocek has a great Marina and lots of shops and eateries. Fethiyes a bit further but well worth a day trip or two.
Dalayan is a great day out particularly on Saturday which is Market day. Boat trips for a few pounds depart regularly for Turtle beach, the forty minute trip along the river and through reed beds would be worth five times the public boat tariff charged. Avoid taking a private hire unless you are a party of six or more and dont forget to bargain hard if you decide to treat yourself to your own boat.
Dont forget to visit Dalaman town, it is welll worth walking along the main street which is typically Turkish with lots of ordinary shops for everyday living

"A magnificent Villa with Superb views (50 character minimum)"

A beautifully appointed Villa has everything provided to a high standard, with very comfortable beds, lovely crisp white linen and all rooms spacious and very well furnished. Nestling in a quiet hillside location with superb scenery for miles around. The private swimming pool has comfortable loungers and plenty of space to relax. Each floor has a balcony with amazing views. A short stroll through a fairy tale tropical garden takes you to Akkaya Gardens restaurant, a perfect way to end the day. We have spent several very happy family holidays there.

"A hidden gem"

Whiterock delivers everything it promises and more. It is truly a home from home set in the lush countryside of the Akkaya valley which though less than 30 minutes from Dalaman airport provides a gorgeous, quiet mountain valley location with excellent views
Whiterock is generously furnished and in excellent general condition. All services (inc.A/C) work very efficiently, though Turkish power supply can be interrupted from time to time at peak periods.
The terraces and pool are spectacular and do take a walk along the footpath to the Akkaya Restaurant where the food is excellent, reasonable and the service friendly and efficient.
