The Poitou-Charentes / Vendee / Vendee region
The Vendee enjoys 2,500 hours of sunshine a year which can be enjoyed along the 140km of sandy beaches.
The south Vendee has a relatively flat terraine which makes it perfect for cycling and there are hundreds of kilometres of cycling track throughout the region. You can either bring bikes or hire them once you get here.
La Tranche sur Mer, the nearest beach has one of the leading centres for windsurfing and along the coast there are also regular sailing regatta's.
Within half an hour drive there are Floral Parks and Chateaux to visit. The vineyards of Mareuil- sur- Lay are 15 minutes away.
If you want to explore the past, the Grand Parc Puy de Fou is the leading historical and ecological theme park in France and less than 1 hr away. You can visit by day or night, although the night shows are only between June and September, but well worth the visit.
The Curzon area
Curzon is a quiet village with a small Tabac/Bar and a bakers/grocers, although you can find all you need in Lucon (10 mins drive away) There are festivals throughout the summer in the area and something on most days/evenings around us.
