The South East Ireland region

County Wexford, along with Waterford, belongs to the part of Ireland referred to as the 'Sunny South East'. With their pleasant weather and fine sandy beaches, resorts such as Rosslare Strand and Courtown are a popular holiday destinations. You can also visit Baginbun Beach (where the Normans landed in 1169) or the oldest lighthouse in Europe, on Hook Peninsula.

The scenery is reminiscent of Normandy - low hills, river valleys and rich farmlands with well kept thatched cottages, lush pastures and beautiful sandy beaches. The county is bounded on the north by the Wicklow Hills and on the west by the River Barrow and the Blackstairs mountains. Its fertile central plain is watered by the River Slaney.

There are several excellent golf courses throughout County Wexford. The Blackstairs Mountains are ideal for climbing and walking. Angling and canoeing are popular activities on the River Slaney. Small towns like Enniscorthy (which hosted the first stage of the Tour de France in 1998) are steeped in charm and history. Enniscorthy Castle, dating from 1205, is now home to the Wexford County Museum.

Curracloe

Children’s playground, restaurant and tennis court within walking distance. It is situated about 1 ½ miles from Curracloe village for pub, shop and restaurant. Renowned Wexford Wildlife Reserve nearby. Historic little port of Wexford (7 miles) for shops, fine restaurants and maritime museum. National Heritage Centre. "OK But"

There is no disputing this cottage is in a wonderful location dogs loved it straight out onto the wonderful sandy beach, but unfortunately that is all it has going for it. The overall cleanliness of t… More

Thank you for your review and we are sorry you were disappointed with the cottage. We are surprised, as the cottage has been fully booked for most of the season, without complaint.

The owners have a slot between bookings for a thorough clean and can only apologise on their behalf that this did not meet with your expectations. We will be taking this up with them.

We were unaware of the problems with the plastic manhole covers in the garden, as this has not been brought to our attention before and we will be checking on this with the owners to make sure it does not cause problems for future guests.

The cottage is actually only advertised with a TV and video, not a DVD and we are sorry you did not notice this when booking.

We are very grateful for you bringing these matters to our attention and hope you will book with us again in the future.
