Cullera is a small typical Spanish village with a year round population of 20,000 inhabitants but quadruple in summer. Know as a beach resort for Spanish tourists.
Centred around the Mountain d'Oro, it boasts some of the finest beaches in Spain with a car free boulevard. The town has a fishing port with auction house and marina.
The river Jucar flows through Cullera and the wetlands are to the south of the town. Cullera is famous for having the sea, mountain, lake and river all within it's boundary. Try the excellent fish restaurants opposite the fisherman's auction house or at several specialist restaurants and taste delicacies not available in Madrid, Paris or London.
Every Thursday from 9 am to 1pm, market stalls are set up in the historic centre around the municipal market place, selling music, shoes, clothes, pottery and other miscellaneous objects. The stalls are also set up on Friday between 6.30pm and 9.30pm in July and August.
The tourist train offers two different itineraries. Although both routes set off from the seafront by Calle Caminás, one heads towards the amazing Castle site and the other travels towards the Cave of Pirate Dragut, located in the hamlet of Faro.
Cullera's harbour is also well worth a visit. You can watch the fishing boats come in during the afternoon and then buy fresh fish at the fish market (lonja) from Monday to Friday after 4pm.
On summer nights, you can have a drink under the moonlit sky in one of the beach bars, which feature lively entertainment options. The music starts out light, to suit the older patrons in the early hours of the evening, but as the night goes on, the atmosphere switches to a club mood that will delight younger tourists, who will also love the range of pubs in the San Antonio district.
Children will love the trampoline area and the kiddie park located by the seafront in front of Florazar I.
Dance enthusiasts are also in for a treat, and should head to Parque de San Antonio to dance the night away as they enjoy the orchestra and a drink on the terrace.
Don't forget to stroll around the Pozo quarter near the Market. The narrow white streets of the old Jewish Quarter retain a nostalgic atmosphere.
Whether you are interested in a fun and action packed holiday or simply want to soak up the atmosphere and see the sights, Cullera has it all and suits all ages.
Local activities: cycling, diving, fishing, golf, hiking, mountaineering, roller blading, sailing, surfing, swimming, tennis, walking, wind surfing with or without lessons and in winter you can even ski or snowboard in the mountains inland.
North of the Cullera Mountain you can find San Lorenzo lagoon, which marks the southern limits of the national park of Albufera. The city is situated 39 kilometres from the provincial capital of Valencia with the beautiful Science museum and biggest aquarium in Europe and the Beautiful designed IMAX and more!
