The Scottish Highlands region

The Isle of Skye lies just off the west coast of Scotland and is now connected to the Scottish mainland by a road bridge at the Kyle of Lochalsh. One of the largest of the western isles, Skye provides for an ideal holiday location with plenty of amenities for family holidays yet retaining a stunning beauty and tranquillity for a peaceful break in northern Scotland. This is a great spot for wildlife lovers, whether it's on the land, in the air or on the sea. Keep a look out for elusive otters and dolphins or if you're really lucky you might glimpse a passing golden eagle! It's easy to take to the sea and boat hire is readily available.

Cullen is a beautiful coastal village situated along the attractive eastern coast of Scotland. Characterised by golden beaches, marine wildlife, rocky outcrops, pretty stone houses and quaint harbour with small fishing boats and canoeing opportunities, this charming seatown is the ideal place to base a quiet coastal retreat. The village itself boasts a small range of independent shops, cafes and pubs, all of which are within easy reach of Suil Na Mara cottage. There are also a number of excellent walking opportunities available in and around the village, including that which takes walkers along a disused railway line and over a series of spectacular viaducts, taking in the breathtaking seascape views along the way. Visitors can also enjoy activities such as cycling, horse riding and golfing (including golf on the villages very own traditional inks course) in the local area. Activities such as wildlife spotting are also extremely popular with visitors, who often get the chance to admire the huge variety of seabirds dotted around the coastline, as well as the famous Moray Firth dolphins and the occasional whale. There are boat trips dedicated to this activity which run from nearby Buckie, offering visitors the chance to explore the local marine wildlife in more detail. Cullen is also well situated for exploring both Inverness and Aberdeen, cities which offer a fantastic range of shops, restaurants, entertainment venues and unspoiled landscapes to discover.
