About the home

This lovely 2 bedroom/2 bathroom air cooled and air conditioned apartment located within 150 metres of the first tee of the championship standard and quiet Desert Springs course and is a similar short distance to the beautiful and well resourced Crocodile & Sierras leisure club with excellent restaurant and bar and loads of leisure facilities. It has 2 superb pools right outside the door, the larger being a sizeable 19m x 8m. These are set in attractive gardens and have ample sunbeds and ornamental trees and umbrella bases for shade. Offering sea, golf and mountain views from the balconies and a large private section of roof terrace the well equipped apartment is superbly finished , comfortably furnished with 2 settees and a dining table and chairs, with wifi, satellite TV (flatscreen) in lounge and main bedroom and offers great year round accommodation for both families and golfing groups. A superb location for an exclusive but cheap holiday YOU WILL BE HARD PRESSED TO FIND SUCH A WELL POSITIONED APARTMENT CHEAPER TO RENT THAN THIS ONE. Part week pro rata reductions seriously considered. CHEAPEST ACCOMMODATION on DS but high quality nevertheless
longer term rentals in winter can be from £425 to £495 per month plus electricity.
In addition to the excellent golf course and practice facilities there is something for everyone and great for families with a range of alternative leisure opprtunities on the complex - large swimming pools, jacuzzi, health spa (all types of health care including massage and facials etc), mountain bikes, excellent sprung tennis courts (and tennis coach), pool, table tennis,paddel courts, children's mini karting track, basketball , volleyball and 5-a-side football courts, cricket nets, football pitch, snooker room, sauna and a trim trail. There are kiddies playgrounds within this self contained leisure complex, a gym, games room with computer games, 2 beautiful restaurants and bars. The golf complex also has a golf shop and a general store near the practice grounds.
There is also much to do and see in the relatively unspoiled Almanzora/Almeria region which has a National Park coast and mountain drives to the old Andalucia. The enticing and relatively uncrowded sandy , blue flag beaches are only 15 minutes away as is Mojacar Old Town & Vera with all their history, quaintness and restaurants. There are also local markets and quaint fishing ports nearby. SUITABLE FOR MORE THAN JUST GOLFERS. Many non golfers have re-booked, enjoying its tranquility, exclusivity and impressive leisure amenities. A great place to just 'chill out'. If you don't worry about being within 5 mins of the beach (tho beaches are within 20 mins!) this is a great alternative. Golf is relatively affordable too -40-55e if playing in pairs or more. (2013) and 27-45e if playing with one of the many members-approx 5% discount if pre-booked on internet.

Apartment has double aspect balconies supplemented by a private attractive roof terrace area with tables/chairs, BBQ, sunbeds and plants and superb views of the golf course, Med and mountains. The sun is therefore available all day. All of these have pleasant and even spectacular outlooks. The roof terrace ,with table, chairs, loungers and barbecues, has a sea view as well as great views of golf course and mountains..
The 2 good sized bedrooms have large fitted wardrobes & security box. The main bedroom has a new and very effective A/C unit and 2 portable air cooling units serve the other bedroom and lounge and are supplemented by large ceiling fans.The en suite bedroom has the adaptability of 2 single beds or zipped together to make an extra king sized double bed. There are 2 fully tiled bathrooms with wc and showers/bath , a fully fitted and very well equipped kitchen and a large, attractive and comfortable lounge/diner. There is satellite TV showing all free to air UK channels in lounge and main bedroom and a DVD/video. Heaters are available for each room for chilly mid winter evenings and all the A/C units can also be used for heating.

5th person can sleep on 3 seater settee or camp bed ((so preferably a child).There is also a cot and high chair available. Loungers and relaxer chairs are available on balcony and roof terrace and there are ample sunbeds by the pools. Tennis rackets/balls and many other games and beach items are left for guests. 2 sets of golf clubs (one ladies) can be rented cheaply from owner or more expensively from Desert Springs caddy master.

Further details outdoors:
There is an attractive and large shared pool (19mx8m) surrounded by lovely well stocked gardens and artificially grassed areas which get sun until late. There is also a good sized kiddies pool next to it. Both are immediately outside the apartment. 12 sunbeds and umbrella stands are available at the pool area - rarely are they all occupied! . Great place to just relax and so quiet and peaceful at all times except perhaps late July/August when it can be slightly busier but rarely packed!!

Swimming pools are not heated at present but open much of the year-they are realistically usable from April to late October and are in sun until late - some even brave them in winter. LATE DISCOUNT DEALS AT LOW RATES AVAILABLE FOR WINTER MONTHS; CURRENTLY VERY CHEAP LATE DEAL FOR for May& mid June. It is so much more than a golf course with loads of leisure facilities for non golfers, great for kids and teenagers and always tranquil with top class customer service whilst beaches and Med are not too far away.

The Costa de Almeria region

This area is reputedly the sunniest, warmest and driest in Spain with winters very mild - often t-shirts and shorts in January!! In 2013 January was constantly sunny with temps of 17-23C. ideal for golf and relaxing or touring. It is also relatively undiscovered by mass tourism but has so much to offer. The nearby Moorish old town of Mojacar is well worth a visit and the 'spaghetti westerns '(eg Fistful of Dollars etc) and Lawrence of Arabia were filmed in the adjacent quiet and beautiful mountain region just 15-20 minutes away.This mountain half day drive is well worth it with many old whitewashed villages and acres of fruit trees. There is a theme park (Mini Hollywood), zoo at Tabernas (35 mins) & limestone caves at Sorbas (25 mins). Cartagena, Granada , Sierra Nevada and Alhambra Palace ( all 2 hrs or less), the spectacular and close by Cabo de Gata coastal national park with great coves and volcanic scenery, Almeria , Nijar, Aguilas and the fishing ports of Agua Amarga, San Jose,Garrucha and Villaricos are all very accessible & well worth visiting as are the nearby Troglodite caves.

The Cuevas Del Almanzora / Desert Springs area

Mojacar Playa is the best nearby resort (though there are quiet beaches much nearer) and is just 25 minutes drive away. It is a relatively low key and unspoiled resort with an excellent range of local and international restaurants, good blue flag sandy beaches and watersports. There is an aquapark and go-kart track within 10 minutes drive and 10 pin bowling and a good mini golf in Mojacar Playa. There are beach bars (chiringuitos) and a beach side night club in 12 mins drive. THERE ARE 5 OTHER GOLF COURSES WITHIN 25 -30 min DRIVE including the (almost) equally good Valle del Este complex (20 mins)and the new courses at Aguilon and Macenas (Mojacar). Desert Springs is exclusive (many sporting icons have villas there), tee queues are rare, green fees can be low at certain times daily (2013 rates from 55 euros to 65e max at peak hours and seasons), and there are enough leisure & dining facilities on site to occupy most people, families and even non-golfers for a week. Villaricos and Mojacar have spectacular fiestas (refer to their websites - the Old Moorish town has its spectacular fiesta in 2nd weekend in June). Mojacar old town (Moorish) is 20 mins away, on top of a hill, and is very popular for its shops and narrow quaint streets and views.Vera town is 10 mins away and is a typical Spanish town with good shopping, a large Saturday market and typically Spanish restaurants. The nearest beaches are a 10-12 min drive and are quiet, spacious and sandy.

“A little spot of paradise.....” Relaxing. Relaxing. Relaxing. Relaxing. Thats exactly what we did all week! The apartment was wonderful - the location so near to a pool was amazing. The short walk to two different bars and eating places incredible. Both served great food by wonderful staff. Everyone on the complex was friendly. It was like sitting around chatting to friends. (Incidentally the weather was super hot!) Could not have hoped for better - thank you so much xxx

“Great Holiday - a real home from home feel” Had a great time, everything was there to ensure we had a hassle free stay with children. Extremely relaxing vacation for the I dependant family travellers Response: Thank you for kind comments. The stairs to the roof terrace are just outside front door and are inside the apartment block and easy to walk up but in your case with a baby and young child we appreciate the awkwardness.

“What a gem!” We stayed at Dave's apartment for four nights in November - and what a wonderful place this is to be! The apartment is delightfully situated in a stylishly-designed development, which made us feel almost as if we were in an operatic stage setting with a hint of de Chirico . On a practical level, this accommodation is perfect too and with its two (!) balconies and two (!!) bathrooms, the apartment has everything you could realistically need. Being a quiet time of the year, the place was like a private oasis, with nobody by the pool except ourselves. The weather was warm, the views beautiful and the surrounding area has much to offer in the way of sightseeing. Strongly recommended. A real gem. We will return!

“A wonderful place to stay” Beautiful apartment in an amazing setting. Staff on site are extremely friendly & the facilities superb. The owners are lovely & made the booking process a breeze. Cannot reccomend it highly enough, absolutely fantastic.

“Lovely apartment, well positioned with great pool and pretty landscape.” This lovely apartment is in a great location right beside the great pool and well manicured and pretty poolside. A very comfortable apartment which is very spacious and airy and has a kitchen with all that you require if you feel like eating in, however a barbeque on the roof terrace is an excellent choice. This of course is best suited in the evening and is great to relax up there till the sun goes down and the stars come out.........fantastic. NIce meal at the Club House and really liked Bar 22. Also great to have balconies to the front and the rear of the apartment. We had the apartment for 12 weeks over the last two years. Super market close by which supplies all you need. We are not golfers but the course looks fantastic and we did walk it a few times, very well cared for. We are of varied ages between 40 and 60. Owners Dave and Brenda are very accomodating and we thank them for letting us their apartment.
