About the home

Casona la Sierra is a seaside resort with a charming colonial house and 2 lofts in a restored barn, the property is 2 acres big.
It's 15 minutes far from the Asturias International Airport and 5 minutes from the highway: a central location to visit the North cost of Spain.
There are beautiful sandy beaches -good for waves sports or just relaxing- in a 3 miles ratio and 2 of the most beautiful beaches in Spain one at 6 miles -silent beach- and the other one at 25 miles -Barayo beach.
From the house door you have paths to the forest, to the hills or to the sea. They are specially good for hiking or mountain-bike.
The green landscape is so beautiful with its meadows and forest, from the top of the hills and cliffs there is a dramatic view over the cost line.
The local gastronomy is one of the best in Spain; there are very good restaurants nearby.
We provide a free local guide at arrival.

The North Spanish Coast / Asturias Province region

Asturias is right in the centre of the North Spanish Coast. It's very mountainous and green, full of meadows and forest (almost 50% of the land). You will find high mountains at Picos de Europa National Park, beautiful sandy beaches, and great estuaries.
Asturias' coast is the place for charming fishermen villages, colonial palaces and the interesting cultural heritage of pre-roman style.
Our gastronomy is one of the best in Spain thanks to its fresh fish, seafood and meat.
The restaurants' quality is very high -not only the sophisticated ones but also the popular "sidrerias" (ciderbars).
The climate on the coast line is Atlantic with mild summer and winter. Spring and autumn are really beautiful too.
From Asturias the Christians started the reconquest of the Muslin Spain at the 8 century with the foundation of the Asturian Kingdom.
The Asturian art from that time is very interesting and unique in Europe due to the isolation of the kingdom there are some pre-roman masterpieces around Oviedo.
Chillida's masterpiece at beautiful Gijón and Niemeyer building at lively Avilés deserves a visit.

The Cudillero area

Cudillero is a charming fishermen village with colourful picturesque houses and steep narrow streets. Castañedo is at the neighbourhood of San Martín de Luiña, It's also a well preserved small village.
Nature activities, site-seeing and gastronomy are the the main attractions.
Hiking, mountain bike, cycling and surfing.
Sandy beaches
Not to be missed: the dramatic Vidio Cape cliffs, the colonial palaces at Somao, the romantic palace and the gardens of Selgas Foundation, Cudillero and Luarca fishermen villages.
Local restaurants are very good and inexpensive.

The resort is 13.5 miles away from Asturias (OVD) international airport by highway.
There are flights from/to, London Stansted, Paris Charles De Gaulle, Palma de Mallorca, Tenerife, Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia, Sevilla and Lanzarote.
It takes 5 minutes from the highway to the resort.
30-minute drive from Gijón port - ferries from/to South England and Ireland.
2-hour drive from Santander port - ferries from South England.
International car-hire companies operate at Asturias International Airport.
