Fuchsia Cottage is a delightful stone property sympathetically converted from its former use as a stable to Croyde Manor next door. Now, one of three terraced cottages, it is conveniently located in the heart of the village, a few minutes' walk from the pubs, restaurants, ice cream parlour, post office, shops and beach.

The cottage has been tastefully updated with contemporary kitchen/dining room and bathroom with two bedrooms of a good size and retains the 'cosy cottage' feel. It is very well equipped with TV, Wi-Fi etc and there is good mobile coverage. There is a small walled seating area ideal for breakfast and entertaining. Fabulous and easy to manage leaving plenty of time for days on the beach! Explore the magnificent North Devon coast or unspoilt countryside.

Leave your car on the drive and take a leisurely stroll through this timeless village admiring the thatched roofs and period cottages, colourful gardens and gentle soothing stream. There are three public houses in Croyde; the famous Thatch (great hot chocolate!); Billy Budd's & The Manor. All are highly recommended. The nearby village of Georgeham is home to the renowned Rock Inn where gourmet meals can be enjoyed in its informal and relaxing atmosphere.

The cottage is a few minutes walk from the beautiful sandy beach and National Trust headland of Baggy Point and a short car drive from Saunton Sands, Putsborough and Woolacombe's blue flag beaches. Croyde is one of the South West's best loved surfing beaches, and the area has spectacular scenery to rival any found within the UK and boasts coastal and inland walks to satisfy walkers of all levels of ability. Golfing enthusiasts are well catered for with several excellent courses within “driving range”, notably the famous Saunton Sands Golf Club. Other attractions include horse riding, boat/fishing hire and ferries to Lundy from Ilfracombe, several adventure/theme parks nearby, the timeless and beautiful Clovelly village, Watermouth Castle, the National Trust's Arlington Court and a little further The Big Sheep at Abbotsham and The Milky Way at Higher Clovelly.

Croyde itself hosts the GoldCoast Oceanfest in June each year with live bands and lots to eat and drink. There is fun for all!

Whatever the time of year there is always something to see or do in this beautiful unspoilt North Devon location, and Fuchsia Cottage provides the ideal base for families or couples.

The West Country region

The South West has arguably some of the most dramatic scenery in England. Within this, North Devon can boast rugged coastlines, sandy beaches, wide estuaries and a particularly intense clear estuary light, green countryside wooded valleys and open moorlands. Walk the coastal path, cycle ride the Tarka Trail or walk on Exmoor. Fish in the many rivers or open seas, horse-ride along the beach or across Exmoor, surf, sail, wind-surf, kite-surf or just build your castle in the sand!

So whether you are looking to get away from it all and relax or to get active and explore, there is always something to suit all the family in North Devon.

Wander around traditional fishing villages or along sandy beaches. Explore unspoilt landscapes and a wealth of attractions. Unwind at a spa or get active and try one of the water-sports in Devon. Many attractions have special offers and free events and there are so many natural playgrounds including Exmoor, Dartmoor, and, on your doorstep, the coast.

Croyde

For spectacular scenery and beautiful beaches whatever the season, there's no better place in England than the North Devon coast and in particular Croyde. The beaches are recognised as possibly some of the finest and cleanest in Europe - with two miles of soft golden sand, plenty of rock pools and amazing surf.

Croyde is not only the renowned surf capital of the West Country but is also a beautiful quaint village of great charm and character with its thatched cottages, rolling hills and the pretty stream that winds its way through to the idyllic sandy beach. The area surrounding Croyde is the perfect place for the outdoor adventurer with Baggy Point close by offering spectacular walks around the cliffs as well as specialised rock climbing. The Goldcoast Festival is held each year on the headland overlooking the beach with large stage and major music entertainment and includes countless sporting competitions. There is tuition available for surfing and numerous other watersports.

Croyde beach lies between the headlands of Baggy Point to the north and Saunton Down to the south. This is one of the most popular beaches in the South West for surfers, and there is also windsurfing, sailing and canoeing. To the north can be found Putsborough Beach with its three miles of golden sands extending to Woolacombe.

The beach has a café/restaurant, toilets with facilities for disabled visitors, and disabled access to the beach. There is deckchair hire, surfboard hire, first-aid, lifeguards, and a lost child centre. The beach has a dog restricted area, pay car parking, and there are nearby shops and a wildlife reserve.

Golf can be enjoyed at Saunton where there are 2 championship courses with further courses at Ilfracombe, Woolacombe and Barnstaple.

A few miles inland is the bustling village of Braunton, where you will find many shops, cafes and the famous Squires fish and chip shop. Cycle hire facilities are also available to explore the Tarka Trail along the estuary, into Barnstaple and as far as Instow, Bideford and beyond.

"Spacious cottage, good modern facilities and central location"

The cottage is spacious (especially for two people) and has modern facilities (good kitchen as well as wifi). The cottage doesn't have a garden but is very close to Croyde town centre (ie. the pubs) and within walking distance of the beach (inc with a surfboard). The cottage comes with a single parking space which was big enough for a medium estate car (Skoda Octavia estate) but bigger vehicles may struggle. All in all we enjoyed our stay.

"Lovely cottage...perfectly situated in Croyde"

This was our 2nd trip to Fuschia Cottage, this time with friends over the New Year period. The weather was horrid so we spent a lot of time in the Cottage which always remained warm and cosy.

Fuschia Cottage was extremely clean and warm on arrival with a lovely bottle of wine to welcome us.

I had completely forgotten to pack towels as wrongly thought they were supplied! Totally my error as the advert does say that this is at extra cost - so remember to pack your towels or you'll be darting to Tesco's like we did!

We will be staying again; great location for all the pubs and walks in our favourite village in North Devon.

Really glad you enjoyed another stay at Fuchsia. It is a lovely cottage and very convenient isn't it. Sorry about the confusion over the towels but for future reference, if you ever want to come and hire towels when you get there that is all possible! Just let us know in advance!

Look forward to booking another lovely holiday for you again in the future!
