North Devon is one of the most beautiful areas of the British Isles. It boasts miles of unspoilt and award winning beaches. The coastline is one of the most popular surfing venues in the country, with Croyde being the most popular.
The coastline is as rugged as it is beautiful dotted with magnificent cliffs, tiny cove and picturesque harbours. It was once the haunt of smugglers, pirates and wreckers and the fascinating history is retold in many small museums along the coast. Today visitors who love Henry Williamson's famous Tarka the Otter can retrace Tarka's journey by following the Tarka Trail.
Along the coastline surrounding a natural harbour is Ilfracombe with its Victorian architecture, Esplanade and famous Tunnels Beach. The harbour is always busy with fishing boats sailing in and out together with the paddle steamer Balmoral which offers day trips to Lundy Island. North Devon has something to offer and appeal to everyone.
There are activities available for all ages. For children there are fun attractions such as 'The Big Sheep' and 'Dinosaur World'. For the sports fan, there is golf, horse riding, cycling, surfing, kayaking, rock climbing and many other activities all within a 40 minute drive from Barnstaple, the region's major town.
Looking for a North Devon Holiday Cottage or Self Catering Holidays in Devon then you are at the right place!

Good sized house for a family close to the beach. However the property was not that clean when we got there with long hair around the place, the cutulrey draws were dirty and for the price we paid we expected at least some hand towels, we had to go to the local market to buy some. The house needed a good deep clean which was disappointing as we had waited a long time for this holiday a paid alot more for it than any other holiday we had been on. Don't normally write reviews but this time thought i would as i look at reviews when looking to book my holidays. |
