"Our Christmas away from Home"

December 22nd in Braunton Devon...was not the place to be....FLOODS. the police and fire brigade turned us back that afternoon only a mile and half to go but no chance, they advised returning to Barnstaple. The Skir House agent 'Barbara' kept in touch and told us what to do,,very helpful when your christmas is in the back of an MPV !!! and 7 other guests coming ...not to mention Tesco arriving that night at 8pm with our perishables agh!!
We eventually got to SKIR House at 10.30am Sunday 23rd and what a relief to be there at long last...what a beautiful house my husband and i were so glad that everything was going to be alright now. He summed it up'' its like HOME'' tree in the lounge, bottle of wine on kitchen top to welcome us...we nearly had some then !!! we emptied the car which took almost 45mins and went to explore the house.we were so pleased to see everything was perfect for us...grandparents x2 older children x4 grandchildren x3 we all loved the place...Annie and family you have done a wonderful job and we really appreciate all the hard work gone into putting your holiday home together...our best recommendation would be that we will be brother's family took one of your postcards when we got home so maybe he will be in touch.very best regards Mary Creely

"Fantastic house in a great location"

We, a party of 2 adults, had weekend break at Skir House in November and will certainly return. It is a lovely house, immaculately clean and the kitchen is just superb! It was a chilly weekend and it was great to come back after a days cycling, soak in the luxury en-suite bath and light the log burner although this was more because we could than because it was needed as the under floor heating made the house lovely and warm. The Tarka Trail is literally at the bottom of the garden and as others have said it's just short walk into town where there are a variety of shops, pubs and eateries. Annie, the owner, could not be more helpful and informative.
For us, it was an ideal winter break location.

So glad you found it warm and cosy for a winter's break!

"I can't recommend this house highly enough."

This was our second stay at Skir house. Our party consisted, each time, of four parents, four children aged 5-8 years old and two grandparents. The house is perfect for this type of group offering ample lounging and dining space for all with the added option of the small lounge for a quiet retreat. The garden is big enough for football and safe for children and our small dog. The garage gives space for wetsuits, wellies etc.
All the bedrooms are very comfortable with plenty of storage space. Both bathrooms feel luxurious if you get a minutes peace to enjoy them!
The house is decorated and equipped to a high spec without losing any of its cosy charm.
We will be back!

We were delighted to welcome you back and so glad your second visit was as good as the first!

"A wonderful place to stay"

We had the pleasure of staying at Skir House for a week recently. Our party consisted of us, granny and grandad and 2 children (one who is 2 and a half and a 5 month old). The house is beautiful and perfectly equipped for large families to stay in. Everything that you could wish for is provided and the house feels very homely at the same time. There was also a large selection of toys available (with an amazing wooden train track to my sons delight). The house is located off the beaten track of the main village, but it is only a very short walk to the main shops and restaurants of the village. It is also only a 5 minute drive from the main surfing beaches, which suited the whole family. All in all, one of thre best holiday houses we have ever stayed in and couldn't find fault with any of it.

Thank you for your lovely comments. Glad you had such a happy time!
