CROYDE ST CLAIR COTTAGE OVERVIEW
A rose pink traditional English cottage, situated in a row of cottages on a country lane just outside Croyde on the way to Georgeham. There is off-road parking for two cars. Situated on the outskirts of Croyde, ST. CLAIR COTTAGE is only a few minutes walk to the pubs and restaurants of this 'chocolate box' English village. This period cottage houses an array of original features, exposed stone walls and beams and offers versatile, spacious accommodation. You know as soon as you walk through the door into the entrance lobby and see the original cast iron fire grate that ST. CLAIR COTTAGE is going to be special.
The living room is accessed through a glazed leaded light door and you cannot fail to be impressed by the large wood burning stove, placed in an even larger stone fireplace, crowned by a large solid wood lintel. Exposed wooden beams add to the character of this room, whilst the soft furnishings tempt you to relax in either of the sofas or one of the two window seats. An iPod docking station, flat screen TV with integrated DVD player with freeview, along with a selection of DVDs and games and books cater for entertainment. Leading from the lounge, the fabulous dining room treats you to yet more exposed stonework and beams, as well as a large feature fireplace. The solid wood dining table and chairs provide seating for up to 6 people.
The kitchen is equipped with traditional farmhouse style kitchen units and a tiled floor in shades of warm amber enhanced by colourful wall tiles, under unit lighting and halogen down lights. Appliances comprise of a dishwasher, built in oven in a tower unit, 4 ring ceramic hob, microwave oven, 2 slice toaster, cafetiere, hand mixer and also a filter coffee maker. A full compliment of pots, pans, plates and cutlery is provided along with a plentiful supply of cookware, cooking utensils, knives, chopping boards, glasses as well as thoughtful children's colourful plastic beakers.
There is a utility room located at the end of a passage, leading from the kitchen, containing a washing machine, tumble drier, fridge and freezer and a selection of cookery books and some added extras for the kids to use on the beach including a beach bucket, spade and beach cricket/tennis.
The bedrooms, all on the first floor, are reached via a staircase in the entrance lobby;
Bedroom 1; contains substantial solid wood bunk beds (suitable for adults) and enjoys a view over the country lane. There is hanging space behind the bedroom door plus a 3 drawer chest of drawers and bedside table.
Bedroom 2; this twin bedded room has a feature iron fire grate and again, enjoys views over the lane. A 4-drawer chest of drawers provides the storage space here.
Bedroom 3; is the master bedroom, containing plenty of natural wood furniture. A large double bed shouldered by two bedside tables and lamps takes pride of place, whilst a wardrobe and large 5-drawer chest of drawers, topped with a vanity mirror, complete the set.
ST.CLAIR COTTAGE has a large family bathroom located on the first floor, containing a white suite with a power shower above the bath, WC, wash basin and heated towel rail. A further shower room with WC, wash basin and heated towel rail on the ground floor is reached via a passage from the kitchen. A potty is also available perfect for the little ones to use whilst potty training!
The very private first floor conservatory offers a versatile space, a wooden toybox provides a great selection of playthings for young boys and girls. With a feature stone wall, natural wood floorboards and seating for at least 6 people, the conservatory provides a light and airy social space during daylight hours, whilst atmospheric lighting transforms it into a far more intimate and cosy space as dusk draws in. It is an unusual but convenient way of gaining access to the tiered garden. The first tier provides an outdoor seating and bar-b-que area, whilst the second and subsequent lawned tiers enjoy views out to Lundy island and the surrounding countryside.
