The West Country / Devon region

Bordered by Somerset, Dorset and the Duchy County of Cornwall, Devon is England's third largest county with nearly 7,000 sq. kilometres of land. Devon contains the two natural parks of Exmoor and Dartmoor, the coastal towns and seaside resorts of two coast lines, picturesque villages with their thatched cottages and charming inns, the industrial centres and a variety of ancient history. There is a lot to see and learn within the beautiful county of Devon.
The Croyde area
Croyde, North Devon is a magical place, the village is steeped in old-world charm, and echoing the feeling of life in Britain in the 30's and 40's, when things were easy going.
Nowadays there has been a great input into the area by the young surfing community and walkers. With three fantastic sandy beaches to choose from. All this has upgraded the area without spoiling the old. Today you can stay and eat in a huge variety of establishments in the area, and take part or keep to yourself in many outdoor activities. Croyde and North Devon has become the place to discover.

I stayed at Priory Stables in September for a week with some friends. Having been to Croyde many times we decided we wanted to stay slap bang in the middle of the village. The house is situated down a quiet road, has a very modern touch and has been furnished to a very high standard. We visited The Thatch pub (just round the corner) on most evenings and walked to the beach (10mins) on the sunny days! The booking process was hassle free and we have already booked for next year! |

I stayed at Priory Stables this year with my wife for a week and had a fantastic time. The house itself is excellent - well maintained, comfortable, large and with all the amenities you expect from a holiday rental in such a popular location. I particularly liked how comfortable the beds were - too often holiday cottages fail on such an important point, but not here. It is also perfectly located right in the centre of Croyde and no more than a 1 minute walk/stumble to the famous Thatch pub (where we had a couple of really fun nights) and about 10-15mins to the beach. Despite its central location is was still very quiet and we had were able to really relax. The owners were very helpful and friendly and provided lots of great advice on where to go for beaches, walks and entertainment. Croyde is a great place for an English summer holiday with fantactic beachs and walks all near by. I really recommend walking from Croyde to Puttsborough beach via Baggy Point - truly awesome views. We'll definitely be going again |
