The West Country region
Bordered by Somerset, Dorset and the Duchy County of Cornwall, Devon is England's third largest county with nearly 7,000 sq. kilometres of land. Devon contains the two natural parks of Exmoor and Dartmoor, the coastal towns and seaside resorts of two coast lines, picturesque villages with their thatched cottages and charming inns, the industrial centres and a variety of ancient history. There is a lot to see and learn within the beautiful county of Devon.
Croyde, North Devon is a magical place, the village is steeped in old-world charm, and echoing the feeling of life in Britain in the 30's and 40's, when things were easy going.
Nowadays there has been a great input into the area by the young surfing community and walkers. With three fantastic sandy beaches to choose from - Croyde beach, Saunton Sands and Putsborough. All this has upgraded the area without spoiling the old. Today you can stay and eat in a huge variety of establishments in the area, and take part or keep to yourself in many outdoor activities. Croyde and North Devon has become the place to discover.

A group of 8 of us stayed at the Priory Stables for a long weekend and found it very easy to find, very comfortable accommodation and one of the most wonderful settings so close to the coast.
Croyde village is a delight and we spent a few enjoyable evenings at the Thatch - Live Mic night on a Sunday is a must if you can go!

"Doesn't live up to past reviews."
Having read good reviews to Priory Cottage I was disappointed to find that it didn't live up to expectations. The general cleanliness of the house was poor. We found established cobwebs throughou… More
We always try to keep Priory Stables to a high standard of cleanliness and I have had many complimentary emails/reviews from previous guests to this affect and glowing reports of my housekeeper. We are always quick to respond to guest complaints as nothing runs perfectly so it would have been more beneficial if you had contacted us when you arrived reagrding the cleanliness so that I could get the housekeepr back in to address. I was surprised to hear your comments about the kitchen and specfically the dishwasher. I installed a brand new kitchen and dishwasher the start of October and you were the first guests to use it. Priory Stables has been continuously busy since July to October and this is the first complaint we have received. However, we welcome all feedback and I will be addressing the cleanliness to ensure we maintain the same high standards as previous reviews all indicate.
