About the home

Pickwell Manor is a stunning period manor house set in the heart of the countryside in the hamlet of Pickwell, yet within easy walking distance of Putsborough beach and a few minutes drive from the popular destinations of Croyde, Woolacombe and Saunton. On site there are 6 acres of wonderful gardens and grounds including an Italian garden, sun terrace, walled garden and areas of woodland. There is also a tennis court and games room.

The Manor has been sensitively converted into 9 apartments ranging from one to three bedroom apartments. 'Divine' is an exclusive apartment that has been finished to a very high standard. It is a perfect hideaway whether for a romantic weekend; a walking holiday; a surfing holiday or simple space to unwind and explore North Devon. It may also be an ideal apartment for a family with young children - there is a double sofa bed in the lounge and travel cots or Z beds can be provided on request. It also provides plenty of space for a family holiday.

This bright and spacious apartment is situated on the second floor of the Manor. It has a very spacious and light bedroom with the option of either king size or twin beds. In addition there is plenty of room for additional Z beds or cots which can be provided on request. It has a large lounge with plenty of room to relax and unwind. There is also a double sofa bed in the lounge that can be made up for you on request.

The apartment has mullion windows throughout and so despite the contemporary design you know you are in a historic Manor house. The kitchen has a particularly large mullion window which floods it with light. It has impressive granite worktops and a large dining table round which to enjoy your holiday meals.

Along with the rest of the apartment the bathroom is newly fitted and has bath, shower as well as an enchanting wash basin.

Being part of the Manor house 'Divine' has the advantage of providing a secluded holiday apartment whilst also offering many advantages of being in a large Manor house (6 acres of gardens, Tennis court, terrace with sea views, ample parking, amazing rural / coastal setting)

During school holidays the rental period is from Friday to Friday. Outside of school holiday both weekend and mid-week breaks are welcome (minimum 2 night stay)

The West Country / Devon region

The North Devon Coast boasts spectacular scenery and beautiful beaches whatever the season.The beaches are recognised as possibly some of the finest and cleanest in Europe - with two miles of soft golden sand, plenty of rock pools and amazing surf. The area of Saunton, Croyde, Georgeham and Woolacombe are in the heart of the Gold Coast and the best beaches in North Devon. It is an area of outstanding natural beauty.

There are a number of local golf courses, the closest being Willingcott just 2 miles away near Woolacombe or Saunton Golf Club located at Saunton Sands which is just the other side of Croyde. Other activities available in the area include kite surfing, coasteering, running, cycling including the Tarka Trail cycle path, wake boarding, fishing, horseriding and volleyball.

There are plenty of activities for children apart from the beach. There are good local parks, indoor play centres, museums, swimming pools and a Wildlife and Dinosaur park in nearby Combe Martin. There are also lots of interesting places to go for day trips including Lundy Island. Lynton and Lynmouth, Instow, Clovelly and Appledore are pretty Devon seaside villages and Barnstaple offers good shopping. Pickwell is also an excellent base from which to explore Exmoor.

There are fishing trips available from Ilfracombe Harbour, Combe Martin, Appledore and Lynmouth. and at Instow.

The Croyde / Georgeham area

The beaches at Putsborough, Croyde, Woolacombe and Saunton Sands are all very popular surfing beaches, they also offer fantastic expanses of sands and rock pools at low tides so are suitable for all beach games or simply lounging on a hot day. All the beaches have beach car parks if you don’t want to walk across the fields and also very good cafes.

Pickwell is situated just 10 minutes walk from the picturesque village of Georgeham which has a village shop, Post office as well as two excellent food pubs. With Croyde, Woolacombe and Braunton all close at hand, there a range of excellent options for eating out.

From Junction 27 of the M5 take the A361 to Barnstaple and then continue on this road to Braunton. At the traffic lights in Braunton take a left on the B3231 to Croyde and then on to Georgeham. Turn left at The Lower House in Georgeham signposted for Putsborough. Then after half a mile turn right on a lane signposted for Pickwell. Turn in to the entrance to Pickwell Manor Farm which will be on your left and then proceed straight on to the entrance to Pickwell Manor.
