The East Anglia region
West Runton is an ideal base from which to explore the beautiful north Norfolk coast, woodlands, market towns and villages. This pretty village is situated between the coast on one side and acres of National Trust woodland on the other – there are marked paths to allow you to walk to both Sheringham and Cromer. The railway station in the centre of the village runs a service to Norwich (calling at Wroxham on the Norfolk Broads), Sheringham and Cromer.
West Runton has many amenities including a very good local (The Village Inn) which is dog friendly. There is also a small supermarket, post office, newsagent and camp shop. The beach at West Runton is a mix of sand and pebble, with superb rock pooling when the tide is out. The railway station in the centre of the village runs a service to Norwich (calling at Wroxham on the Norfolk Broads), Sheringham and Cromer. In Aylmerton, in easy walking distance is the Roman Camp noted for its pretty gardens and good food.
There are expansive sandy beaches with award winning blue flag ones at Cromer and Sheringham. At Holkham and Wells - next - the sea, pine woods edge the sand dunes, historic harbour villages such as Blakeney, Cley -next-the sea, Salthouse, Morston and Brancaster Staithe. To the East there are the villages of Overstrand, Mundesley with further gorgeous beaches.
The seal population at Blakeney Point can be visited by boat from Morston and Blakeney.
A trip on the North Norfolk Railway is a must – not only does it pass through some of Norfolk’s most beautiful countryside but it allows you to explore two of Norfolk’s most popular towns – Sheringham and Holt.
Just through Weybourne is the Muckleborough Collection, which is the UK's largest privately owned working military museum.
About a mile away is the National Trust's Felbrigg Hall with its lovely house, orangery and lakeside walk. Within a twenty minute drive is one of the Trust's flagship properties, Blickling Hall and Sandringham is nearby.
If you're looking for theatres, try the Pavillion Theatre at the end of Cromer pier, famous for it's annual End of the pier summer show. The Little Theatre at Sheringham or the Auden Theatre in Holt or the Theatre Royal in Norwich.
A short drive lies the Norfolk Broads, Britain's finest inland waterway. An extensive network of rivers and shallow broads with small villages can be visited by car but it's best discovered by boat. Day boats can be hired from one of the many boatyards.

"Ideal cottage in great setting!"
Very good accommodation ideal if you have dogs, great walks on the doorstep and thoughtful welcome package.
Thank you for the review and glad you enjoyed your stay. Hope to see you again.

In September we stayed a long weekend at Vine Cottage, part of a group of small cottages in West Runton. Our disabled son was attending the Kingswood School Camp just down the road, but staying with us over night. Kingswood was literally a couple of mninutes drive away.
The accomodation was brilliant. The presentation of the cottages, both inside and out, was very good, and we were very impressed with the attention to detail and the thought that Mark and Juliet have put into their cottages. Quite often the furnishings and appliances in cottages can be dated, but not the case here - with wifi, ipod dock, digital tv, and tastefully decorated throughout.
The cottages are in a quite location, but still only minutes from Sheringham and Cromer, and the North Norfolk Coastal Path (which cuts inwards near the cottages) is very close.
We cannot recommend highly enough.

"A Perfect Holiday Venue"
My wife and I, together with our grand daughter aged 7 and wife's mother aged 88, stayed for a week at Vine Cottage. We found the place beautifully clean, airy, well-appointed and containing all … More

"A charming property in north Norfolk!"
What can I say? We had the most wonderful stay in north Norfolk. The property was beautifully laid out and equiped. Bright, airy and cosy. We will certainly be visiting again!

"Pity about the wi-fi otherwise excellent"
We found this cottage on the internet and were pleased with the Tripadvisor reviews. Having checked it out during a day trip to Norfolk we decided to book for a week with our youngest granddaughter. Vine Cottage is a 2 bed, 2 bathroom property in beautiful surroundings off the A148 into Cromer and just a short drive to West Runton with its beach. The cottage is well appointed with two large bedrooms, two good sized en-suite shower rooms and a comfortable lounge with dining area. The fantastic weather allowed us to take advantage of the secluded garden and patio furniture for al fresco dining plus ball games with our granddaughter as well as walks from the cottage. The welcome pack was a useful inclusion and the only negative was the poor wi-fi which only allowed connection for a short period on one day. If wi-fi is included in the offer it should work all the time. But for this the property would have scored excellent but we hope to use again in future, next time with better wi-fi.
Glad you enjoyed your stay & am happy to say that the WI-fi is working fine in every room with a new booster.

"Very nice modern cottage in peaceful setting"
Cottage was clean, comfortable and nicely presented. Welcome pack was good with homemade cake and fresh loaf. Enclosed garden area ideal for our dog and a lovely sun trap to sit and relax in.
Good location for accessing the surrounding area, with walks on your doorstep to burn up those holiday calories.
Downside - Wi fi connection was poor, our teenage son needed to sit in the hallway to get a good signal.

"Relaxed, quiet cottage, but close enough to the beach!"
my wife is disabled, and it was handy that there was a path from the car parking area to the rear of the property, as the drive was gravel. At both the front and rear doors there were steps, but once inside the property it was level access. There was plenty of room around the cottage for my wife to walk without falling over furniture. The showers had level access and were large enough for a shower chair.
NB For blue badge users, there is car parking down on the sea front promanade at Cromer.

A really well furnished & appoited cottage. In the past we have always stayed in National Trust cottages so we were very surprised and pleased with Vine Cottage. The little extras such as milk, tea/coffee, bisciuts and cake a real bonus.
A very enjoyable stay in a lovely cottage close to the sea and the other attractiuons of North Norfolk. Would highly recommend staying here.

"Excellent, could not fault the accommodation or location."
Lovely cottage in a beautiful quiet location, very well appointed and the little touches of gorgeous bread and cake were great. Would certainly recommend and the owners were friendly and helpful. Could not fault at all.
