Enquire nowThe East Anglia / Norfolk region
West Runton is an ideal base from which to explore the beautiful north Norfolk coast, woodlands, market towns and villages. This pretty village is situated between the coast on one side and acres of National Trust woodland on the other – there are marked paths to allow you to walk to both Sheringham and Cromer. The railway station in the centre of the village runs a service to Norwich (calling at Wroxham on the Norfolk Broads), Sheringham and Cromer.
The Cromer / West Runton area
West Runton has many amenities including a very good local (The Village Inn) which is dog friendly. There is also a small supermarket, post office, newsagent and camp shop. The beach at West Runton is a mix of sand and pebble, with superb rock pooling when the tide is out. The railway station in the centre of the village runs a service to Norwich (calling at Wroxham on the Norfolk Broads), Sheringham and Cromer. In Aylmerton, in easy walking distance is the Roman Camp noted for its pretty gardens and good food.
There are expansive sandy beaches with award winning blue flag ones at Cromer and Sheringham. At Holkham and Wells - next - the sea, pine woods edge the sand dunes, historic harbour villages such as Blakeney, Cley -next-the sea, Salthouse, Morston and Brancaster Staithe. To the East there are the villages of Overstrand, Mundesley with further gorgeous beaches.
The seal population at Blakeney Point can be visited by boat from Morston and Blakeney.
A trip on the North Norfolk Railway is a must – not only does it pass through some of Norfolk’s most beautiful countryside but it allows you to explore two of Norfolk’s most popular towns – Sheringham and Holt.
Just through Weybourne is the Muckleborough Collection, which is the UK's largest privately owned working military museum.
About a mile away is the National Trust's Felbrigg Hall with its lovely house, orangery and lakeside walk. Within a twenty minute drive is one of the Trust's flagship properties, Blickling Hall and Sandringham is nearby.
If you're looking for theatres, try the Pavillion Theatre at the end of Cromer pier, famous for it's annual End of the pier summer show. The Little Theatre at Sheringham or the Auden Theatre in Holt or the Theatre Royal in Norwich.
A short drive lies the Norfolk Broads, Britain's finest inland waterway. An extensive network of rivers and shallow broads with small villages can be visited by car but it's best discovered by boat. Day boats can be hired from one of the many boatyards.

my wife is disabled, and it was handy that there was a path from the car parking area to the rear of the property, as the drive was gravel. At both the front and rear doors there were steps, but once inside the property it was level access. There was plenty of room around the cottage for my wife to walk without falling over furniture. The showers had level access and were large enough for a shower chair. NB For blue badge users, there is car parking down on the sea front promanade at Cromer. |

A really well furnished & appoited cottage. In the past we have always stayed in National Trust cottages so we were very surprised and pleased with Vine Cottage. The little extras such as milk, tea/coffee, bisciuts and cake a real bonus. A very enjoyable stay in a lovely cottage close to the sea and the other attractiuons of North Norfolk. Would highly recommend staying here. |

Lovely cottage in a beautiful quiet location, very well appointed and the little touches of gorgeous bread and cake were great. Would certainly recommend and the owners were friendly and helpful. Could not fault at all. |
