A beautiful stone gite dating back to 17th century restored and new to the holiday rental market for 2013. Located in the heart of the Loire Valley it is a perfect base for exploring the numerous historical sites and gastronomic delights that are sure to make your holiday truly memorable. We look forward to welcoming you.

We fell in love with the house the moment we saw it. We love living here and hope you will enjoy your holiday in this beautiful part of France. There is so much to see here, we have been living here for five years and have only seen a small part of it.

Spreading from East to West, within 60 miles you can travel around the Loire Valley and take time to explore the world-famous châteaux of Chambord, Chenonceau and Chinon. The area is rich in history. At Amboise you will find a museum to the memory of Leonardo da Vinci who came to France at the invitation of Francis 1 in 1516 and died here on 2nd May 1519.

The Loire Valley is the third largest French wine region. The wine tradition is reported as early as the sixth century. The fortress city of Chinon is a must see for the first-time visitor. It was from here that Henry II Plantagenet ruled over a large portion of France and all of England in the 12th Century. Also close by and another must see is the Royale Abbey of Fontevraud, where Henry II, his wife Eleanor of Aquitaine and their son Richard the Lion Heart were interred.

Some of the best wines in France come from the various AOC surrounding us, Chinon, Saumur-Champigny, Bourgueil and St. Nicolas Bourgueil to name a few. Within a 40 minute drive is the beautiful city of Tours, and the wine regions of Vouvray and Sancerre.

Saumur, 'the pearl of Anjou,' is just a hours drive to the west, and it serves as the equestrian capital of France and is home to the world famous Cadre Noir.

At the heart of the vineyards of Chinon, you can discover with pleasure the nearby cellars and the warm and generous welcome of the winemakers of the country.

There is an abundance of restaurants in the area offering delicious traditional French cuisine, we would be more than happy to recommend our favourites.

We are located outside the village, on a country lane and have very little passing traffic. With the king-size sleigh bed and luxury bedlinen you can be assured of a peaceful nights sleep. The terrace is a perfect place to enjoy the sunset while sipping locally made wine and savouring the flavours of delicious French cheese.

5/5

"Beautifully restored coach house, in a quiet, secluded location with extremely friendly, helpful owners."

We spent a lovely week at Le Petit Chaume, The gite's immaculately clean accommodation was excellent, from the extremely comfortable kingsized bed to the high specification kitchen it was like a home from home. It had its own private entrance however Kate and David, who were very friendly and pleasant were available for advice regarding restaurants, places to vist etc. They had also provided a very useful welcome pack and there were even little extra's for your use in the bathroom. This is one of the best holiday accommodations we have ever used. There are plenty of places to visit including Tours, Saumur, Amboise, and various Chateaux, However a car is an essential since it is fairly isolated. We wished we had stayed longer.

We are so glad you enjoyed your stay. We look forward to welcoming you back again in the future.
