The Tayside/Perthshire region

Strathearn is just north of the remains of the Antonine Wall, build by the Romans to keep the Picts away from Hadrian's Wall! Lots of national history including standing stones. Places of interest include the nearby Earthquake House, in Comrie, the Auchingarroch wildlife park, Loch Earn water sports, several large 'Munro' hills, including the local Ben Chonzie, 10 minutes drive from The Cottage, the world famous five star Gleneagles Hotel with it's championship golf course (Ryder Cup host 2014) and Michelin star restaurant.


Lots of river and hill walks, fishing on the River Earn, golf at any of the 10 local courses or the championship course at Gleneagles, water sports including sailing and windsurfing on Loch Earn, Mark Philips Equestrian Centre, Jackie Stewart Clay Shooting centre, Falcon centre, off-road and 4x4 course, local recreation centre with swimming pool and fitness centre. Local hospital, doctors' surgery, post office, petrol station, library, tourist information office, banks.

Restaurants locally including traditional Scottish, French, Indian, Chinese, Thai, Italian, with deli's and cafes. Local shops including butchers, bakers, fishmongers, pharmacies, chocolate and sweet shops, fine wines and bottle shops, country clothing and sports shops, hair salons etc.
