About this location

The Perth and Kinross region

Situated in the very heart of Scotland, Perthshire represents the perfect place to find all that you expect of a great Scottish holiday. Most of Perthshire is little more than one hour by road or rail from Glasgow or Edinburgh, but a world apart.

Towns and places to visit in Perthshire include Aberfeldy, Loch Tay and Glen Lyon, Auchterarder, Gleneagles and the Ochils, Blairgowrie and East Perthshire, Crieff, Comrie and Strathearn, Dunkeld and Birnam, Kinross-shire and Loch Leven, the Fair City of Perth, Pitlochry and Highland Perthshire, and some of the most scenic Scottish glens.

Take a walk in Perthshire this Autumn and discover why this beautiful region is known as ‘Big Tree Country’, home of the tallest trees, widest conifer and tallest hedge in Britain.

Use some of the 250 miles of waymarked paths to get to the Roman camps, medieval castles and whisky distilleries where you can spend a great day out discovering all about the detailed history.

Welcome to Crieff and Strathearn, an area renowned for its beautiful countryside and breathtaking beauty.

Ideally situated within spectacular scenery with an abundance of facilities on the doorstep Crieff and Strathearn offers the perfect place to explore and relax. There are world famous attractions, a varied choice of hotels in Crieff, award winning Crieff restaurants, exclusive boutiques and exciting outdoor adventure all situated in Strathearn, Scotland’s heartland. The town of Crieff long known as a holiday town derives its name from the Gaelic word ‘craobh’ meaning trees and the name Strathearn meaning the valley of the River Earn.

Whether you are visiting for a day, a short break or a relaxing week’s holiday, Crieff and Strathearn is an ideal base from which to enjoy all that this area has to offer. From couples wishing to walk and explore the natural surroundings, singles looking for outdoor adventure or families looking for plenty to do, look no further, everything is on our doorstep.

"Central location and welcoming hosts"

My wife, 3 y/o son and I stayed in the self catering apartment over Christmas. The apartment is spacious and very centrally located which means that one can easily fit in day trips to Edinburgh, Glasgo… More

Many thanks for your review; we are so pleased your family enjoyed your stay with us over Christmas. As you rightly say, Crieff is a great base to explore Scotland, having a superb central location. Especially travelling up to Cairngorm so that your son could build a snowman!!
With the apartment adjoining the main house and the B&B it is difficult to know exactly how much interaction to have with guests; however it seems we got it just about right for your stay!
Thank you for your recommendation.

"Well appointed, comfortable apartment in great location"

Galvelbeg House has a reputation for the "extra little things that make a difference" and the self catering apartment(totally separate but through the wall from the B&B) owned and run by Nig… More

Many thanks for taking the time to write us such a lovely review. We are so glad that you enjoyed your stay at Galvelbeg House and you like all the extra touches. We are lucky that Crieff is such a great location to explore all around the surrounding area and also lucky that we are just a short walk into the many restaurants & pubs Crieff has to offer. Although people come on a self-catering break it is nice to be able to go out or get a take-away!!
Thanks again for your recommendation.
