Fir Tree cottage is situated in the mature gardens of Nantyfelin and is a cosy and comfy little cottage and ideal for a holiday in Criccieth. It has seaviews from the lounge and kitchen windows. We are situated in one of the best positions with views of the sea and the castle ,lovely gardens, central for all amenities and also set back from the road to retain its peace and charm. Park your car in the grounds and you may not even need it again all week as we are so central to most amenities and close to public transport as well.Have an early mornng swim, breakfast on the patio, walk to shop or beach etc and then dinner in the evening in one of the superb restaurants in Criccieth and didnt use the car at all. !!!

Fir Tree has one double bedroom with ensuite shower room and a lounge/kitchen/diner area with television / freeview and dvd with the dvd's being able to be hired from the local Spar shop. The kitchen has a gas cooker, microwave and fridge/freezer and plenty of crockery etc. We supply hand and bath towels and we do supply some kitchen items for you to use. There is a breakfast bar but if you prefer there are small tables you may use with the easy chairs for dining. It has a stable door so can left open if you bring a pet or if the weather is really hot. If you are a golfer there are 8 courses within 20 miles to choose from

Fir tree was renovated from the out buildings of Nantyfelin which consisted of the garden room(where the tools were kept.) outside lavatory, coal house and the wash house for the main house Nantyfelin. The gentry lived in the main house and the maids did the washing in here and the old washing sinks are fixed to the cottage outside.Pretty and convenient for all amenities Fir Tree makes an ideal place to stay any time of the year.

The North Wales region

If you like mountains. rivers, waterfalls, beaches, slate and gold mines, fishing, riding, golf and any watersports then this is the area for you. Its has beautiful scenery everywhere you look from the wonderful old castles , the stunning Italiante village of Portmeirion, excellent eating /drinking hostelries and in Criccieth we have some of the best restaurants around. 8golf courses within 20 miles.

The Isle of Anglesey has the claim of homing Prince William and Katherine and is only 3/4hr away. Caernarvon has so many royal connections and David Lloyd George (Prime Minister) hailed from Criccieth. History in abundance and also so many quiet areas and places to sit and enjoy nature at its best. Snowdon the mighty mountain is always beautiful when its either covered in snow or green and purple in the summer months from the heathers. There is a narrow gauge railway that takes you up to the summit of Snowdon and others that take you around the area.An area that can be either lively or quiet whichever you desire.

Criccieth

Criccieth is the best place to stay to explore the National park as it is virtually in the centre and you can travel 5 different ways out of the village to visit the Lleyn peninsula, Betwys y Coed ,Harlech, Caernarvon, and Blaenau Ffestiniog and all places are so different and offer everything you could want to make this a perfect holiday. There is even a nightclub at Pwllheli Bangor and Caernarvon if you require nightlife otherwise this as an area of outstanding beauty and peace.

Criccieth has a fair which dates back to the 800's when the farmers went to hire their work hands but now it is just a fun day and everyone locally collects in the High street and village green .This is on the 29th June and the 23rd May each or as near as possible to those dates. We also have a festival in June and you can see choirs. plays and hear all sorts of music being played and different events in local venues. There are fireworks on the Castle on the last night. Make sure you come to visit the area sometime and stay with us in friendly and homely Fir tree cottage.

"Very central for all amenities"

This was a well equipped cottage set within lovely gardens. Some of the shrubs and flowers were very rare and the views were quite stunning. Of particular interest to us was the proximity of the town facilities. Everyday essentials like milk and newspapers were just a couple of minutes walk away and the station just ten minutes walk away.It was especially convenient to walk for 5 minutes to the beach and when we did forget an item it was very easy to walk back for it. We both like antiques and Criccieth has several antique shops which is certainly not true of everywhere in our experience. We are definitely considering a return next year, albeit the ground floor of the main house. Ann and Richard have devised the ideal balance ie to be available quickly to help but otherwise they leave you alone to enjoy your holiday.

Many thanks for this kind review. It was lovely to have met you both and we hope that we will see you and maybe the family as well next year. Weather is still as good now as it was when you were here. Many thanks again.
